Assassin’s Creed already has an ending

This is the end

There is nothing worse than a game ending on a cliffhanger, that never gets resolved. Which is why I’m still crying to this day about how Advent Rising will never get a sequel. One franchise that is still going strong however, is Assassin’s Creed. And if it ever has to end, it will do so on a note that resolves all those annoying loose threads.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag game director Ashraf Ismail explained that the series already had an idea on how to end, although that epilogue was in a rough state;

The brand team that sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series’ overall arc. So there is an overall arc, and each iteration has its place inside this.We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is.

But Assassin’s Creed isn’t drawing the curtain down on the final act any time soon. With multiple teams working on various titles in the franchise, AC has become an annual title, much like Call of Duty and FIFA. In fact, the series has three dedicated studios, each working on a different game right now.

And of course, each team collaborates with one another to drop a few hints and sneak peeks at future games amongst one another. “We’re now able to seed stuff earlier and earlier in our games,” Ismail said.

So for example in Assassin’s Creed 4 we have Edward, who was seeded in Assassin’s Creed 3. But there’s a lot more stuff in our game that is hinting at other possibilities.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is out in October on PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. It’ll be hitting next-gen consoles shortly after they debut. And a little while later as usual on PC.

    As long as Desmond stays where he is……
    I have to say though, while I didnt play Revalations or 3, I am looking forward to Black Flag. ARRR!

      I actually found Revelations a better game than Brotherhood.

      2 was still the best AC to date, but 1 has a special place in m’heart – will never forget the first time I played that game! Some of the things it allowed you to do (scale walls almost effortlessly, but also believably; your first silent assassination with the blade) were just mind-blowing at the time… LOVE that game!

      Haven’t played 3 yet, although I recently bought it on special, so will get started with it shortly.

      4 I’m really looking forward to – for all intents and purposes, it’s being touted as what 3 should’ve been… But with Pirates! Hell yeah! 🙂

    Luckily this one won’t have cut scenes toe Desmond, that guy irritated the hell out of me.
