The next chapter in the ever-expanding Assassin’s Creed story is set within France’s revolution. It was a period of social and political upheaval which had upset citizens working together to to uproot centuries-old, particularly unfair institutions such as the absolute monarchy..mostly by stabbing royals. And when you get to re-enact it in Assassin’s Creed Unity, you may get to do it with others.
Rumours on the internet are suggesting that the game will be shown at E3 this year – which is bleeding obvious if you ask me. Those rumours, however, also suggest that the game will be getting 4 player co-op which is interesting. Apparently there’ll be the traditional single player campaign, and a 4 player co-operative, narrative-driven campaign as well.
The information originally comes via a serial neoGAF leaker, but the folks at The Escapist say they’ve verified the information to originate from Ubisoft. It’ll likely be similar to the series Wolfpack game mode, only with some sort of narrative tying it all together. That sounds..much better than the multiplayer that we already have – which is fun for a bit but hardly the reason people play Assassin’s Creed.
After Assassin’s Creed III, I swore off the series, but obligations forced me to take a look at the series again with Assassin’s Creed IV – and I ended up thoroughly enjoying the pirate adventure. Hopefully, this new one is just as good. It’ll be the first real new-gen Assassin’s Creed, and I’m really excited to see what Ubisoft can do in an open world that’s free of last-gen constraints.
