Assassin’s Creeds’ Paris compared to the real thing

My favourite thing about Assassin’s Creed isn’t the actual gameplay, or the killing or the convoluted, nonsensical story. No, it’s the historical tourism, and it’s in this area that Paris-bound Assassin’s Creed Unity has it waxed. There’s so much rich, mostly accurate history at play, along with a wonderfully realised digital Paris that recreates many of Paris’ moist majestic monuments in exquisite detail. At 20 frames (and as many glitches) per second, sure – but it’s beautiful, and expertly crafted. A series of juxtaposed pictures by photographer Damien Hypolite show just how much attention to detail Ubisoft’s put in to the game. It’s a pity they couldn’t put that sort of attention to detail in their quality assurance.

Ubisoft’s attempts to capture Paris’ unique architecture should certainly be applauded, because for the most part, they’re spot on.

Assassin’s Creed Unity was released last month for the newer consoles and PC, but was unfortunately released in a but of a broken state. 3 patches later, and it’s still not quite the game it should be.

So I could just buy Assassins Creed Unity if I don’t have enough cash to buy a plane ticket to Paris?

I’d rather go to Paris. But not on a plane built by Ubisoft

Still [slightly] safer than going on a plane built by Eskom.

It’ll be less frustrating getting the Visa and saving for the trip.

Yeah I’m taking that back. I’d rather be there in person. Better graphics and no stuttering or people without faces doing cart racing while sitting down. If paris in real life was like the game i would shit myself out of fear.

you would be stuttering while trying to get the french to stop ignoring you.
apparently its not the most hospitibal place.
graphics… debatable. the architecture in the game looks pretty fantastic. youd be a lucky man if you got that kind of lighting IRL.

Actually a Visa would be easier to get than getting a UPlay account to work right

I purchased a Ubisoft game on Humble Bundle and had to redeem it on Uplay.

After creating my account and installing Uplay I was about to login when Eskom struck.
Once power came on (late as you probably guessed) I discovered that Uplay had become corrupt.
Once I reinstalled Uplay and redeemed the game I discovered that it only shows the 3rd expansion in my games library and I can’t figure out if it’s just the stand-alone expansion or the Complete Edition that I purchased.

Indeed. So much effort put in to it and yet such a failure because of poor quality control

I blame the lack of cheats for the poor QA in modern games.
In the older games the devs would code in shortcuts to make testing easier but nowadays those shortcuts are viewed poorly.

How are they supposed to test that the final boss fight works if it takes 10 hour to get to that fight only to realize something is broken so they then need to fix it and spend another 10 hours to retest properly?
