Atari rebooting Alone in the Dark and Haunted House

Alone in the dark Wii
If you think horror in gaming, the names Silent Hill and Resident Evil are sure to pop into your head fairly quickly. Names like Alone in the Dark and Haunted House are from a bygone era of gaming, but Atari thinks it’s time they came back.
If you have a keen memory, you’ll remember that Alone in the Dark (unfortunately) actually made a comeback no too long ago. A reboot was released in 2008, but it was goofy, broken and just downright awful to play. There’s no indication yet whether Atari’s proposed reboot will be any better, because we have no idea what it’s like.

What we do know is that it’s called Alone in the Dark: illumination, coming to PC exclusively later this year. That isn’t the only title Atari has planned either, with the studio also lining up to release a new Haunted House title later this year as well.

Haunted House also underwent the reboot treatment in 2010, although judging from the fact that it’s getting another reboot four years later I’m guessing it wasn’t that good. The Haunted House name is one of the oldest in horror games history, so I’m interested to see how Atari tackles it for a new age.

There aren’t many details outside of the two teaser websites for the titles. All we know is that they’re coming out later this year.

  1. Ima let you finish, but first a PSA: there’s a new humble bundle out & it’s not shabby at all.

Minimum ($1): The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 1 Complete, Deadlight & Galactic Civilizations 2 Ultimate
Average (currently $6.01): Terreria, King of Fighters XIII & Crusader Kings 2 + 3 unit DLCs
Full ($15): Age of Empires Legacy bundle

That awkward moment you already own 80% of those games =/

That said… Deadlight and Hellsing alone makes this worth your it! FOR $1 NO LESS!

I got it now because I was only paying the average, not interested in AoE. So may as well save myself a few R.

I predict this is an indication of a new mainstream theme in gaming. Will it replace the CoD element? Maybe…

I finish every game I play, at least the story part! Even if I have to play on easy and rush through it!! But Alone in the Dark is utter crap!!!
