Australia gets gimped version of Fallout 3

I reported a while back on the fact that Fallout 3 had been banned in Australia thanks to the fact that there are real life drugs in the game.

However the developers have now submitted a new version of the game which has now been approved so the gents down under will now be able to enjoy a kiddy version of Fallout 3.

Okay while it may not be a kiddy version I do find it incredibly patronising that any country feels it should be censoring materials like this in today’s world. Not to mention a supposedly Western first world country.

GTA IV was censored in Australia as well and all that happened is that people imported it from Play Asia and the rest built up over expectations of how cool the game was for everyone else.

Assuming they don’t censor packages like I read they might. Surely there is some underground way you can get the game uncensored. It reminds me of that story that ran on Kotaku about the Saudi gamer who bought God Of War 2 (which is banned here) on the hush hush (it was wrapped in a Winning Eleven cover).

Censorship – democracy’s way of saying “yeah, we’re a dictatorship on something. At lease we don’t spew propaganda.”
