Australia proves it doesn’t know what an adult is

SouthPark

The land of the oppressed and ripped off has done it again. Yes that shining light of nanny land has once again failed to grasp the idea that a mature and well reasoned adult can make their own decisions on what they would and wouldn’t like to see.

The upcoming South Park: Stick of Truth has passed through the Australian ratings board and has received the highly expected R+18 Adults only rating. Good news for everyone right? Well no, you see the game has only passed after being ‘modified’ by the developer.

This is the second game in a month that has received the top rating only after receiving some modification, with Ubisoft’s Codename getting the same treatment.

Unfortunately we don’t yet know what was cut from the South Park game but we do get an idea of what may have been cut by reading through the American ESRB rating thanks to PlayerAttack, emphasis mine.

This is a role-playing adventure game based on the animated South Park TV show. Players assume the role of a new kid in town who embarks on various quests with other boys in the neighborhood. Players can engage in turn-based combat, selecting attacks from a menu screen. Players use various weapons (swords, baseball bats, hammers), magic spells and melee attacks during fights; blood-splatter effects sometimes occur. Cutscenes occasionally depict “cartoony” characters dismembered or decapitated. The game includes several instances of mature humor and sexual material: one extended sequence depicts characters getting anally probed by alien creatures; another sequence (in an abortion clinic) depicts doctors using a vacuum to perform procedures on male characters; one level takes place inside the rectum/colon of a character (sex toys, random objects and fecal matter appear in the level)—all sequences are depicted in a cartoony and over-the-top manner. Characters are occasionally depicted nude (e.g., breasts, buttocks, male genitalia); one extended sequence depicts an out-of-focus couple having sex in the background; as players engage in turn-based battle in the foreground, sexual moaning sounds/dialogue is heard. During the course of the game, drug paraphernalia can be seen strewn around a methamphetamine lab. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” “a*shole,” and “f*ggot” can be heard in the dialogue.

So if you’re Australian and reading this take a moment to curse at your ridiculous government and laws and then import it from Play-Asia or somewhere else like that.

So… Van is really lus and decides that he is going to a brothel for some much needed action. He walks up to the pimp lady and tell her “Look, I am really lus for some action, but I don’t have a lot of cash. What can I get for R20?”.

The lady shows him to a room where a girl is already sitting spread eagle and she tells him that he is only allowed to go down on her for 10 min and nothing more, Van decides that this is a moerse good deal and dives in.

About 2 min in he notices that he just chewed on a pea, but thinks nothing of it and carries on. A min later he gets a baby carrot in his mouth and decides that this is just to much and asks “Listen here young lady, are you sick or something?” to which she replied “No, but the guy before you was”

Being South Park the censorship might actually be a good thing.

lol not necessarily, while they were making Bigger Longer Uncut, they were told/given the idea that they had to put something absolutely ridiculous in there so that the censorship board wouldn’t go apeshit on the rest of the movie, so they put the scene w/ Saddam, Satan and the Dildo, figuring the censors would remove it. And then they didn’t lol.

They should ban alcohol seeing how their rugby players can’t even control themselves. Or maybe they are lightweights when it comes to beer. Or maybe Aussie beer is Oros compared to our beers. In any case they sure are down under when it comes to games.

They’re a fan of Millers, which is piss-coloured water basically. That should explain enough.

I’d like to take the opportunity as resident Australian to make it clear that while most of where I live at least is progressive, the voting majority are elderly and/or stupid. The classification board is the biggest joke, they’re like national parents.

The difference in this country is that they’re stupid, but criminals, and they’re lazy. So at least your classification board does something, even if it is banning adult content for adults. Ours just goes to lunch at KFC.

While that may apply to much of the government I’d like to defend our board actually.. recently they’ve started embracing technology in a big way and are quite progessive when it comes to ratings

I’ll take your word for it, since I really don’t know all that much about them.

And if they do take offence to the joke, I’ll apologise here publicly. It was meant as a joke based on South Africa in general. On that last bit (excluding the board), nobody can really argue.

Thanks Gavin. I’m going to go crawl under my rock again now 😀

So when games are banned in Aus, what happens if they download it and play it? Will ISPs moan that they downloaded a banned item? Will one get fined when they know you are playing a banned game? Or does this just mean it won’t be sold in stores…
