Axl Rose Sues Activision for $20 Million

Sometime in the 90’s Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose was abducted by evil aliens and replaced years later by a whiny,braid-headed, talentless, portly approximation – who shall henceforth be known as Fat Axl.

Presumably because he needs the money to buy Christmas mince pies, Fat Axl is now suing Activision for the princely sum of $20 Million – for their inclusion of GnR Song “Welcome to the Jungle” and former bandmate Slash in Guitar Hero III.

He’s angry, you see, because Activision weren’t supposed to use the song if there were to be any references to the frizzy-haired guitarist and his then-band Velvet Revolver.

“[Activision] began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions to not only feature Slash and VR prominently in GH III but also promote the game by emphasizing and reinforcing an association between Slash and Guns N’ Roses and the band’s song ‘Welcome to the Jungle,’ ” says the filing

When Fat Axl found out that a video-game recreation of Slash and Velvet Revolver Songs would be included in GH games, he says he withdrew the authorization for for the song.  According to him Activision lied and said that Slash’s inclusion was for the purpose of tradeshows. When the game hit retail featuring “an animated depiction of Slash, with his signature black top hat, long dark curly hair, dark sunglasses and nose-piercing,” Fat Axl became Fat Enraged Axl.

“This lawsuit is about protecting Guns N’ Roses and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and is about holding Activision accountable for its misuse of these incredibly valuable assets,” said Fat Axl’s lawyer Skip Miller. “The relief we are seeking is disgorgement of profits and compensatory and punitive damages.”

We’re now on the eleventy billionth Guitar Hero, and he’s getting all antsy about the third one? They say every rose has its thorns, but Fat Axl’s are quite clearly up his arse.

Thing is? He probably has a case. This certainly isn’t the first time the company’s been sued regarding unscrupulous behaviour regarding its now-waning music rhythm game.
