If you’re a standard-definition television owner, you may want to consider canceling that pre-order for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Following the recent demo release, players using SDTVs noticed the text was difficult to read. This may remind you of a similar problem with Dead Rising, after which Capcom told fans they’d have to deal without a patch. A Rare community manager has similarly stated that the problem would be “too expensive in terms of time, resources, and money to alter.” Asked if the problem could be patched, he said, “I really don’t know at this stage, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.”
Also Microsoft’s strict guidelines for Xbox Live Arcade releases, there aren’t any in place to make sure retail titles are readable on smaller screens. Also, consider that the game is retailing at a lower price, a move meant to make the game more palatable to mass audiences who are also more likely to own standard-def TVs. Finally, if the demo is any indication, almost all of the plot and instructions are given via text, so SDTV owners would probably be essentially clueless on what to do.

I dont know what to expect from this game… building cars and racing…. Sounds a bit lame.. I would of thought it would be like a crash bandicoot game or something in that region…

I’ve got a prerelease copy of the final retail game. Note, not the Xbox LIVE Arcade title. The text isn’t the best on my clunky old SDTV using composite video cables but its perfectly playable.
The game is loads of fun anyway.

It’s not fantastic but it is readable, I’m playing a a 74cm via component and it’s acceptible. I imagine on a low cost 30cm or so it’ll be a bigger issue.
