Arkham Knight interim PC patch out next month

Batman: Arkham Knight is a great game. At least, it is on console, where the entire technical experience is as close to flawless as can be. The PC version of the game is the complete opposite, with a leaked email from last week suggesting that it’s going to stay that way well in September. Warner Bros, on the other hand, want to do something drastic next month.

Warner Bros and Rocksteady have stated that they’re aiming to push out a performance patch for the game as soon as next month. The patch is said to fix the many issues the game is currently still plagued with – but not to the point where it’s ready to go on sale again.

“As an update, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Rocksteady and our partners are targeting an interim patch update for existing players to be released in August. This update will address many of the issues we listed in our June 27 update. We will provide additional details as we finalize that interim patch over the coming weeks.”

The wording is key there. Warner Bros. doesn’t mention when the game will actually be in a state ready  for sale again (although “just good enough” seemed to be fine last month). On top of that, the interim patch is being targeted for August – which means it could just as easily slip even later should things not go according to plan.

Warner Bros. also doesn’t try dispel last week’s rumours, which suggested that the game would not be fixed properly until September. Either the retailer email was accurate, or the publisher simply doesn’t want to lend any credence to it by acknowledging its existence.

Either way, one thing is sure. Batman: Arkham Knight is still the buggy, disgraceful mess it was at launch, and it’s not going to get better anytime soon.

  1. Disgraceful doesn’t even begin to describe this. THe damage they have done to their brand is going to show for upcoming game releases.

I bet the next game they release is console only and they will state “Piracy” as a concern or “PC isn’t big anymore” instead of saying “We are too !@#$ scared to do another PC port ever again”

PC gamers you arent missing much… Just play Batman Arkham City… It’s basically the same game with slightly worse graphics and no Batmobile…

I cant seem to get myself to play AK for longer than 40 minutes at a time… It’s just too repetitive, especially with those forced tank missions…

The sad thing for me is. The story is BRILLIANT so far.. But I dont always wanna be stalking goons and incapacitating them one for one to continue the story.. Give me puzzles dammit, or mini games.. Keep me guessing..

Once again, Witcher 3 has spoiled me…

That is very true. Witcher 3 has spoiled us all.
I just found the riddler challenges in City very repetitive (as was the game). Origins I quite enjoyed, just because it took you back a bit.

          brilliant is pushing it.
it has brilliant elements, bringing in some of the best stories from the comic books, but its implimentation leaves alot to be desired. its too spread out, i feel like saving firemen is more important than the arkham knight, its dumb.
along with batmans wooden performance, simplified gameplay and scripted takedowns.

this game makes me wants to read the comics instead of playing the game. i feel like id get a better experience that way.

you forgot to mention that arkham city has a much more compelling storyline, bad guy and batman.
      terribly underwhelmed by arkham knight.

By the time this game is “ready” it will have been played and enjoyed by the console market.
WB will be stupid to this that it’s still worth that full price.
    I’ll wait for a sale.

40$ for a few skins and one or two totally average DLC packs that add nothing to the game.
i mean, im mildly curious about the batgirl DLC, but even then, it still looks irrelevant

you dont need to wait for the goty, just get the vanilla game and scrap all the DLC.

I just hate the in game advertisement for DLC that I still need to buy. Ruins the immersion for me. MK X ()Another WB game) is still bringing out characters and because I didn’t grab the season pass I missed out.

what i hate, are the in store exclusives, like the whole red hood and harley thing.
id have much preferred to play the red hood DLC, but because we dont get that version here, i was stuck with boring harley.

Warner Bros have failed PC gamers with both Batman Arkham Knight, and Mortal Kombat X. I don’t think I will be buying any of their PC games any time soon.

again, waxing lyrical about how perfect the game is, completely overlooking the games downfalls, which are present in all versions of the game.

the new patch will probably break the game for me. i just wish i could refuse to download it. the games actually working, if it aint broke, i dont want to fix it.
but alas, its steam, its not optional…
