Cold-cold-heart-(2)

While Arkham Origins didn’t set the world on fire thanks to some buggy gameplay and the fact that the title clearly wasn’t polished enough for release back in October last year, the DLC has been a different story. Initiation was a solid piece of content that charted Bruce Wayne’s final test before becoming the Batman. And Cold, Cold Heart will see him tangle with a  familiar foe.

In the latest DC Access video, Game Director Benoit Richer and Creative Director Eric Holmes detailed the new content. It’s a week after the events of Arkham Origins, and Mr Freeze is in town, looking to enact a master-plan of sorts. Turning parts of Gotham into extreme cold zones, Batman needs to suit up into some warmer, bulkier armour for the DLC.

“We’ve developed a new suit, and we call it the XE suit for Extreme Environments,” Richer explained.

It comes with thermal abilities. There’s heat coils that run around the suit. First of all, there’s one for the suit that makes you able to stand in extreme cold zones. Also, you’re able to heat up your glove and break ice elements or people that have been trapped in ice.

Where does he get those wonderful toys? As usual, Batman will be using his sole superpower, infinite cash, to bring a few new toys to the battlefield, as Richer detailed how he’ll need them:

You’re also able to charge up your batarang with heat and destroy ice from a distance. Also, you can use it in combat. We have new moves, new takedowns to complement this. Obviously, we have new enemies that use ice tech as well. Mr Freeze is not the only one that uses ice tech, and we have thugs that can now use cryotech weapons.

“Freeze is a unique individual right? He doesn’t want a gang, he’s not like some of these other crime lords, he’s a solo operator,” Eric Holmes explained about the crazy cryogenics master.

So he has had to align himself with another one of the crimelords of Gotham, to try and achieve what he’s going to try to achieve tonight. You’re going to see him teamed up with another one of the characters, one of the major characters of the Arkham universe and you’re going to see sparks fly.

The DLC is out April 22. And it looks pretty…cool.

Those are some bigass bat titties. This game and its DLC can go burn. I disown it! I’m going to go rub my extremities over the screen while rewatching the Arkham Knight reveal again.
