Battlefield 1 cheaters are running rampant online

Battlefield 1 has a hacking problem

Battlefield 1 is out this Friday, but for anyone on EA or Origin Access it’s been out in a limited form for the past few days. The early access for subscribers starter last week, giving players a taste of some of the campaign and a whole lot more of the multiplayer. Inadvertently, it’s also highlighted a problem that was plaguing the game during the September beta. Hackers are getting a free pass online, and Battlefield 1’s systems are struggling to keep up.

Battlefield 1 currently does have an anti-cheat system in place, and Fair Fight is trying the best it can to deal with cheating players. As PCGamer found out over the weekend though, its wheels of ban hammer justice turn slowly, leading to numerous frustrating matches with inexplicable deaths. If you take a look at a video they compiled below, so many deaths come from impossible angles according to the killcam. Bullets travel through walls and instantly seek your head, which makes online play more than frustrating.

PCGamer eventually saw their cheater banned, but many players over on the Battlefield 1 Reddit pages are struggling with the same issue. Many cite Fair Fight as too slow, and would rather see more traditional systems like Punkbuster implemented. Some players are also lambasting DICE for not offering an easy way to report cheating players. Instead, players will have to report a transgressor through Origin, which isn’t at all ideal or entirely straight-forward.

“ESCAPE > Scoreboard > Player name > View Profile > Dropdown next to “Send friend request” > Report”, wrote rockamokafon

“Well that’s intuitive.” replied draeath

There’s still something DICE could do before the game is release properly this week, but it’s also a problem that should be a top priority. Nothing is worse that a cheater online, and it’s compounded by the high player numbers and massive expectation Battlefield has on it for a being a great online shooting experience. If that’s sullied, it’s hard for players to want to come back.

Have the best graphics in the world, a system so strong it can run any game 4k at 60fps without stuttering.

“Cheats because he ……” or “Cannot play because of all the cheaters making it no fun”

This makes me so sad, it is not even funny.

Say what you will about Overwatch but their Zero Tolerence stance on cheaters is refreshing and welcomed.

I’m actually 100% fine with the EU servers

In fact, even if there were SA servers – I doubt I’d play on them 😐

Oops I meant local peering servers. Pretty much servers that send the data to EU faster and more stable. (lot more complicated than that but yeah)

I had a 20 something plus and 0 deaths once on bf3 on the xbox360(now given that it was limited to 32 player total, that does equate to the same as 63 and 0.

It was a rush game, and we were defending. I was using the SDS like a boss in a tunnel. Had a guy dropping me ammo all the time. He said that it sounded like I was using an autorifle, not a sniper rifle.

      Man that was fun.

Difference, I wasn’t cheating, just camping, and defending a choke point to the degree that the other team could not advance.

Not saying the KD is wrong, saying the video is terrible and that the cheater is a waste of air

The hacking tools anybody can rent as paid service via several websites are basically the same since over 10 years. So you see what the effort is from EA`s side…They see it as “It doesnt make us money”. I have worked for a producer for EA. Since the days of BF 1942 nothing really has changed, EA games just need to look good at launch and “Be fun”. Combined with no one really being accessable as server admins for kickbans or server run additional plugins creates additional joy on BF1 ( CoD,Payday, GTA, Division etc. is the same story in terms of MP hacking ).

I can confirm that there are in fact a lot of cheaters in the servers as of today, 21 October. I was getting killed mysteriously at odd angles (when viewed through the kill cam). Also, I noticed several players were able to take unusually high amounts of damage with very little loss of life. And no, there were regular soldiers and not flame throwers or infantry kit equipped players. Also, DICE has failed big time in keeping ping rates within servers to a minimum. Saw several times where ping rates were easily reaching up to 200ms in a server, making lag a huge issue. And I noticed just how empty the servers were. I was quite surprised in how few of people are playing this game right now. Well under 1000 players in the US servers, which is just crazy! Looks like DICE and Fair Fight have things to do. What they really need to do for starters is to ban cheaters instantly after the first proven infraction, just like Steam and Massive do now. It’s the only real way to resolve the rampant cheating.

However much I love playing bf1, its becoming very much unplayable. To be fair I’ve played a few games that was very balanced and very enjoyable with no WTF moments. All you need to do is google cheats for bf1 and there’s so much on offer like monthly payments for an undetectable by fairfight downloads and free cheats that of course does not garantee fairfight protection. Of course what we see here is blatant cheat but cheaters are very clever to not over do it and some are actually defended by other players as legit. This will only get worse because it’s a lucritive business.

Right now, 26 February 2017, the game is NOT PLAYABLE. All servers have at least 2-3 cheaters ( and those are good servers)….
Better get the game on console, the PC version is ruined by rampart cheating and bad hit detection
