In today’s least surprising news of the Day, it looks like Battlefield 1 will indeed be getting a premium pass, just like Battlefield 4 did. According to EA, The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass will grant players two weeks of earlier access to four of the game’s themed expansions. One of those expansions brings the French in to the fray, which another prepares the game for a rush of Russians.
That first expansions is expected in March 2017, and is called “They Shall Not Pass.” The Premium Pass will also give those who shell out for extra weapons, more classes, and bunch of other things.
New frontline battles.
Scout ahead with a two-week head start on four themed expansion packs. And France joins the fight in all new multiplayer maps. An upcoming expansion will bring the Russian Empire into the battle.
All the Premium extras.Get ready for new Operations and game modes, new Elite classes, weapons, vehicles and more. The Battlefield™ 1 Premium Pass includes 16 new multiplayer maps, 20 new weapons, 14 unique dog tags and 14 Battlefield™ 1 Battlepacks containing stand-out weapon skins. Each Battlepack is delivered monthly, starting November 2016.
As you’d expect, said Premium Pass comes in at a premium price. The cost for getting a Battlefield 1 that’s always up to date with all the maps and gear? R499 on Origin. I remember a time, not that long ago, where whole games cost that much.
Anyway, Battlefield 1 looks pretty good, if war is your thing. It’s out on October 21, 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and focus on the Great War. I juyst can;t help but think back to some comments DICE made half a decade ago.
“We don’t ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together,” DICE’s senior producer Patrick Bach told Xbox World 360 in 2010.
“We’re owned by EA but we’re still very much DICE.”
Times, they’ve certainly changed.

Just wait a few months post release for the combined prem and game for around 599 to 799. Learnt after spending over 1k on bf3, bf3 back to Karkand, then premium. As they all release after each other. Only to see prem and game up for sale a few months later for under 600

“A few months later” was more like 6 months to a year, when the new CoD was released and the trailers for BF4 came out and the BF3 population pretty much evaporated.
We dont really have the online population to fill enough servers to make buying premium all that worth it anyway.

BF4 released almost 2 years after bf3. It was not long with BF3, and the bf3 community was still in full swing when prem went at a lower cost. With BF4 I waited around 4 months until origin had a special on premium bf4, still not that long. Yes Hardline released not long after but that was one of the first annual battlefield released ever, and was poorly received. Just curious as to why you bring up CoD, an annually released series, with a series that is not annual to try justify not just having some patience?

I brought up CoD because the CoD releases have an affect on the local player pool. We have a small player pool, so when a new game is released, it drastically affects the number of people online.

Played the most patient game with BF4. Bought the base game and patiently waited for the expansions to go on the house. My patience has paid off well saving me from buying the premium package.

The problem is that there are just way too many people that get to strike three numerous times.

Thats only R100 up from the bf4 pass, which is actually progress, considering the game itself costs twice what it used to cost.
Doesnt mean Im going to buy it, DLC should not be that expensive and by the time all the maps are released, the online population is going to be so small it wont be worth it.

Thats actually what the premium cost for BF4, nothing changed, only the game price changed a little

And then the dlc aint even that big.Just for a few maps and some gun.
One has to pay for a game, pay to play online(xb gold, ps plus) then pay for game add-ns which aren’t even ALL that.

Consider this though. its still a bargain compared to COD.
Standard COD is R999 on Steam, and does not include any DLC.
Standard Edition Battlefield is R599 and Premium R499. Total R1098.

COD has become sh!t, let’s be honest, I wasted money on BOPS3, the server connections are ridiculous,I get so much lag and get disconnected.

I wonder, If you play the Russian campaign, do you only get a gun every tenth time you play?

I think it’s quite well priced. It works out to R25 per extra map. Everything else is a bonus.
