Battlefield 3: "a lot of extra love put into the PC version"

Anyone who has seen the debut video for Battlefield 3 will be able to tell you: the game looks incredible. DICE has admitted that the console versions are going to be “scaled down” and that the PC version will be the one that gets “extra love” during the development cycle.

This is all from DICE boss Karl Magnus Troedsson, who was also quick to point out that just because the console versions will be “scaled down” does not mean that they won’t still be “amazing”.

According to Troedsson:

“The PC players are going to love to hear that, but it’s a fact. The hardware specs on the console are limited. At the same time, for each iteration on these console platforms we can utilise the power of them better and better, so what we do on the other platforms is going to be amazing, and look much better on the PC too.”

Better visual fidelity is not the only thing PC gamers will have to look forward to when Battlefield 3 hits. According to DICE there will be a lot of “unique features on the PC version”, but they’re reluctant to reveal all just yet.

Looks like it’s time to upgrade that graphics card then – my 8800 GTX is getting seriously long in the tooth now.
