Battlefield 3 marketing budget to top $50 million

The big fight of 2011 is definitely between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 and while EA’s ambush marketing of MW3 isn’t anything new the news that EA has assigned a marketing budget of R340 000 000 is.

This figure has been made public by our friendly financial gaming expert, Michael Pachter, and what’s even more surprising is that BF3 has a far smaller marketing budget in comparison with Activision’s behemoth.

In total Michael is expecting a couple hundred million dollars to be spent between the two titles in a fight to the death for our hard earned gaming cash.

I expect both these titles will be substantially profitable in the end but that EA’s profit margins will be smaller as they are leveraging a larger marketing budget to install base to try and eat into Call of Duty’s dominance.
