Battlefield 4 DLC on hold until game is fixed

Earlier his week saw the release of the China Rising DLC for Battlefield 4, which as excited some players – but left many others feeling cold. the reason? The game they bought last month still isn’t working properly, regardless of the platform. As a result, DICE has now put expansions for the game on the backburner, to get the game that they’ve already released working properly.

DICE is "not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4," EA told IGN.

“First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4,” they said in a statement.  “We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game — it is absolutely our No. 1 priority.

“The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we’re not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4.

“We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We will not stop until this is right.”

It’s honestly about time. Honestly, I think the game was a little rushed to meet the launch and could probably have done with a little more time in the oven. I know a fair number of people who’ve been moaning about Battlefield 4 since its release; server issues, glitches and freezing have been ruining peoples’ online experiences with the game. Unfortunately, this does mean that the studio won’t be working on Star Wars Battlefront 3 any time soon.

Have you experienced any soul-crushing issues with Battlefield 4?

Except for a random crash here and there (about one crash in 4 games for me) and poor geometry in a few places where you get stuck on nothing, I really haven’t had issues that makes me regret
buying it. They will fix the problems anyways, so I’m not too worried.

I’ll be upgrading mine to the PS4 version next week, so I’ll see how that version does. 🙂

So they release a broken game and charge you full price for it and as the industry norm is they charge you extra for DLC just to make a extra buck. That and there’s two things different from BF3.
    1. They added a 4 to remind you it’s a sequel and not the same game as BF3.
    2. Skyscrapers Falling Down.

please, sometimes i have no idea what DICE did when deciding how to set the accuracy, sometimes run into a guy and just shoot circles around him while he has time to write my name with c4 packs, then shoots me off into space with them.

            battlefield is nice like that.
you can be 1-10 but still be on top of the leaderboard with points.

Didn’t even know they had stuff like sales. Don’t like it as a platform and not an EA fan though, so it’s very unlikely that I’d buy anything. Only have Battlefield and Dead Space on my origin, which I might open once a month.

            December 5, 2013 at 11:45

Origin is super optimised now, i was downloading at 1.5mb/s the other day on a 4mb, which is 3-4x the actual line speed.
and the specials they had were quite awesome, BF4 for R299 and I bought Dragon Age Origins Ulimate edition for R65.

i still hate the idea of having mutliple game managers though

          • Shift-Tab John (JJ)

            December 5, 2013 at 11:51

Wow. That’s a good price for Dragon Age, I must say. Origin has always just felt a bit kiddy to me, compared to Steam. Also have SimCity on mine, now that I recall, but that game has given me more headaches than pleasure, putting me more off with regards to supporting EA.

        December 5, 2013 at 08:18

Agreed. I played BF3 for a bit and found it hilarious how people lost their shit when you climbed into a tank. “GET OUT OR WE I WILL KICK YOU” get’s shouted frequently. While with Planetside 2 it sometimes looks like it’s fucking Russia invading Nazi Germany.

Maybe… I just found it to be exactly like BF only more spacey! And BF3 at that time ran smoother with less lag and wasnt killing my CPU. Heard they optimised the game recently. Might give it a bash again, but the million gigabyte update has kept me away.

While it’s been relatively smooth sailing for me, I had quite a few “bf4.exe has stopped working” and a couple black screens of death. But all in all, nothing game breaking or rage-enducing. Think the game has frozen 3 or 4 times in the middle of a round which is the closest thing to rage-fuel i’ve experienced.

      Has it been unplayable? No.
Is it working silky smooth? No.
Do i have faith that they will fix it? Yes.
