Battlefield4-1

I’ve got to admit, Battlefield 4 does look pretty damn good. After all, Rihanna wouldn’t allow her track in any old game, would she? DICE has released the stats you PC gamers have been waiting for, in order to get that game running at optimum frames per second. Just try not to play it on Windows 7 if you can.

Battlefield requirements

Not too bad, right? Those minimum specifications won’t require you to steal a Borg cube, but it’s the insistence on Windows 8 that I’m curious about. All those extra textures and explosions are certainly going to eat up a chunk of your hard drive space though, clocking in at a whopping 30 gigs of data.

Dayumn.

Battlefield 4 is out later this year on other platforms as well, which will require you to install the disc by hand and then press a button to start playing automatically. Taxing stuff on consoles, really it is.

It’s a Mid-High end card ? seems like a decent amount for a card that can play BF4

I’d say mid. But it’s not bad at all. Would love to see what settings you’ll get with a 660 though. Won’t be ultra, especially if you want 60FPS (which you do want). *strokes shiny new 770*

Have to agree. Picked up my 7870 LE (with the never settle again games) for about R2600 if I remember correctly and that card is a beast. Really could not recommend it more as a value for money card.

I have a 660 and play BF3 at up to 120fps..I will see once BF4 is out but I think the card will run just fine, 60fps should be possible…

I have 2 monitors connected all the time, the primary monitor, used for gaming is 1920×1080, secondary is 1680×1050 (I assume 2 monitors would have some effect on fps but not noticed any real drops). The 660 is the GTX660 OC version.

          • Blazzok

            September 11, 2013 at 09:32

Sweet. I have a GTX670 OC, but I haven’t really ever checked what kind of FPS I get.
If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to propose a test of sorts. I want to compare, as I also have 2 screens connected (2 x 24″ 1080p ones), and I play the multiplayer on Ultra settings, so everything is maxed except AA which is at 4x I think.
The 120fps you get, is that in multiplayer or singleplayer? Which driver version did you use and what OS do you have? Also, what did you use to measure the FPS with?

The reason I want to do this is, a friend recently told me what FPS he was getting in WoW, and I was getting less that him, even though we both had everything the same, even our PC’s were almost identical, apart from him having a slower GPU than me. He did say that he was using an older driver version, so I was wondering if the newer drivers were actually maybe slowing things down.

So if you’re up for it, I’d like us to compare a bit and see how things turn out. 🙂

            Hey Blazzok,

I checked my settings last night. In game, use render.drawfps 1 and you will get the FTPS in BF3. It depends on how busy the game is and my settings. I get anything from 70FPS to about 119FPS actually but I do get up to 120 now and then, not all the time. My settings are pretty low in game to better see targets and reduce clutter. I don’t see a huge diff between my settings and ultra. On ultra I can get up to around 90FPS but have had higher…I don’t play on ultra though…I use this guys advice when I play multiplayer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im2jgLioE9o for my settings
I also have 16GB ram, i7 3.6Ghz (sometimes OC to 4.4 but not right now), win 7. I use the latest NVidia Drivers all the time.

          • DOA

            September 12, 2013 at 15:56

btw, your actual FTP will also depend on your monitor, far as I know if you have 60Hz then you wont actually see more than approx. 60FPS anyway.

          • Blazzok

            September 13, 2013 at 16:37

            Hey

Sorry, haven’t had time before now. So I checked, with my settings, which is everthing Ultra, 4x AA, 16x AF I get 110fps max.
Swapping down to the settings this guy in the video uses, I get up to 170fps. But I’ll maybe try playing with his settings, see how it goes. Maybe it makes things easier with less clutter.

Just for comparison, I have 8GB RAM, i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz and Win7. Also loaded the latest beta drivers before doing the test.

Thanks mate, appreciate the effort. 🙂

Well, if you game at 1920×1080, then you won’t need more than 2GB of video memory. Or that is how it is at the moment, can’t think that BF4 would surpass that limit.

What I’ve noticed with game recommendations lately is that the recommended specs are not for Ultra ultra settings. So the recommended cards will probably run the game close enough to ultra but wouldn’t be able to have the texture set to ultra as that would require to much VRam

I’ll give you the downgraded graphics, but I think the experience will be better solely due to the absence of cheaters / wall-hackers / aim-botters, without those your statement would probably be 100%

Rude wakeup call, but have you seen what people do via cheats on console fps games?

Never encountered any cheats in all my years playing console, however my 1st and 3rd game of BF3 PC version had cheaters.

So I’m just speaking from my own personal experience.

You’re talking out of your ass. It’s easy to cheat on console, and BF3 has seen many hackers over time. Besides, on PC I havent even encountered more than FIVE hackers since I play on it.

But nice try to stick up for a console on which this pc game will ALWAYS Look worse. If you lack the money, interest or whatever to play on the PC, there’s no point to your comment more than sound stupid.

Wot part of “Speaking from my own personal experience” didn’t you understand?

Frankly I was just pushing the stirring console fanboi angle for shits and giggles and I was speaking FACT about never encountering cheats when playing on console.

Why you have to be an insulting dick is beyond me.

My 660 gives me 60+ fps on most games at 1920×1080. Crysis 3 cried a bit at ultra but a few tweaks got it up there. The i7 and Ram definitely helps. I was extremely satisfied and equally surprised with this card’s performance.

Windows 8? Hahahaha! Oh EA, just because you’ve partnered up with Microsoft, doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and buy Windows 8. PS4 all the way, baby!

No, sadly not Jim. You will have to go out and buy hardware that is not 20 years out of date.
