Bayonetta 2 will never be ported to Xbox One or PS4

Right now, I’m busy sorting out hours of footage and plenty of words for an upcoming Bayonetta 2 review. This is a game that almost never was, until Nintendo stepped into save the day by making it a Wii U exclusive. And by exclusive, we mean proper console exclusive because you’ll never see Bayonetta return on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

And no matter how many tweets you guys send Platinum Games producer Hideki Kamiya to port the game over, it ain’t going to happen. Responding to these messages (translated by Nintendo Everything), Kamiya stood firm on the decision to keep Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive. “We [Platinum Games] are developers and receive support from publishers by making games that they request or suggest,” Kamiya explained.

As for Bayonetta, we developed the game after signing a deal with Sega. Later it was decided to also develop the sequel, so we started working on Bayonetta 2. When development had progressed to a certain degree, in Sega’s situation it turned into ‘This isn’t a good plan’, so development halted temporarily.

Without funding we didn’t have the possibility to continue development, but we wanted to get this partially developed Bayonetta 2 available to the public one way or another. So we offered it to various publishers, but as it is a big title, we couldn’t find a partner company.

Finally, Bayonetta 2 was about to get terminated completely, when Nintendo came in and lent a hand and we were able to restart the development we so desired. The game was finally released last week, so after five years, we were able to make Bayonetta 2 available to the public.

Knowing those circumstances, if someone is still angry for heading towards Nintendo, I wonder what the reason for that is: could you tell me in a way that is easy to understand? As I have said before, if you want Bayonetta 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, how about trying to ask Nintendo? If Nintendo doesn’t say yes, it’s not going to happen. While you’re at it, try asking for Mario and Zelda too.

Bayonetta 2 is out right now in Japan, and the sales aren’t exactly looking rosy. Still, that hasn’t stopped it from being a critical success with reviewers, with Famitsu scoring it a near perfect 38/40 and Edge giving the game a stunning 10/10. Expect our own review, soon when the embargo is up. And as for Kamiya and Platinum showing some loyalty? I’m behind them 100% for that decision.

    Good for Nintendo.

I cant say the same about Microsoft COCK Blocking The Rise of The Tomb Raider from the fans on other systems who helped escalate Crystal Dynamics to a new podium.

Dick move, considering they are not paying for the development and its a sequel to a re-boot.

I read that MS is actually funding the development to be in direct competition with UC4 next November.

Na, if they were then they would have squashed the backlash of hatred by being more clear like Nintendo were.
They just threw money at Square after SONY sold all of their Square shares.
Kind of like they did for the GTAIV DLC

Yea, Phil Spencer announced MS is co-funding the game, it’s the same partnership they had with Capcom and Dead Rising 3. , without their help ROTTR, probably won’t be made. Square/ CD, are likely under sort of contractual agreement to keep quite about the duration and exact details of the deal., but,Phil has already shared details about this.Said, MS will spend money on marketing and developing Rise of the Tomb Raider..

Phil Spencer, said MS is Co-Publishing the game with Square and Crystal, will help spend money on marketing and developing Rise of the Tomb Raider, if it weren’t for MS, their probably wouldn’t be ROTTR.

Phil Spencer: announced, MS is the publisher, will fund the game on marketing, and development. it’s the same deal they had with Capcom with DR3. Square and Crystal get the backing to make sure of making a high quality game.

It’s about time the peasants learn why excl*sivity is such a dirty word.

Got to respect Platinum for sticking to their guns and not their bottom line. Suppose we’ll have to see what comes of it.

Sounds similar to Titanfalls situation, insofar that in the last minute a hardware maker stepped in to fund things, it’s really not that out of the ordinary. Plus, let’s face it, Nintendo’s still got plenty of cash to throw around for 3rd party exclusivity. I think we often forget how much they made off of the Wii generation, and how much they’re just sitting on right now.

End of October that game will be mine, will be the first time I’ve turned my Wii U on in like almost 2 years.
