Bioshock 2 to have multiplayer?

Bioshock 2

Bioshock was easily one of the best games to have come out in 2007 and it has widely been anticipated that we will be seeing it’s sequel in 2009.

However a recent job posting on Gamasutra makes me think we are more than likely only going to be seeing something in 2010 at the earliest.

If they are only taking applicants at the moment I struggle to believe that they will be completed this year but what is more interesting is the type of jobs that they are looking for.

They are looking for a Content Designer, a Lead Multiplayer Engineer and Lead Multiplayer Engineer (First-Person Shooter).

That doesn’t leave much to the imagination and I am sure a lot of people are now celebrating because multiplayer was something that I felt the original Bioshock was sorely lacking.

Let’s hope they don’t overdo it though and still deliver a top class single player campaign.

Oh the job positions also point towards a Xbox 360, PC and PS3 release but we knew that already.

I think it’s a little naive to assume that they will only start work on their next project after Bioshock 2 is out the door. So it’s quite likely that this posting is for that team’s next project.

I didn’t think teh original needed multiplayer at all, far to many games have multiplayer modes tacked on that never last, look at teh darkness for instance, games like bioshock that really on a heavy first person experience really dont need multiplayer even co-op its a intimate experience and multiplayer would would just destroy that. Plus as weve seen from previous titles it would just never last.
