Bioware discusses Jade Empire sequel

In 2005, Bioware released Jade Empire  – a martial-arts RPG – on the Xbox and the PC. Though it had some curiously clunky combat and wasn’t nearly as deep as the incredible Knights of the Old Republic that preceded it, it cemented itself as one of my favourite games f the time. We’ve heard very little of a sequel; a rumour here, a denial there – but for the first time Bioware has seriously talked up the possibility of a sequel, saying "We’re just looking for the right way to deploy it."

"We’ve been talking a lot about that actually on and off over the years," BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka said to Eurogamer "It’s an IP, it’s a setting that we’re really passionate about, and we still are. Both Greg and I were big believers in the IP.We’re just looking for the right way to deploy it."

"We have a lot of different projects now on a lot of different platforms, and you might see some of that [Jade Empire] in the future. You never know. We don’t have anything to announce on it right now," Muzyka added, "but it is a franchise that’s near and dear to us."

So it’s nothing concrete, but it could happen. I know I’d certainly rather have a new Jade Empire than another dull RPG like Dragon Age II. Jade Empire is currently available on steam, and Xbox Live as an Xbox Original.
