BioWare ends support for Mass Effect Andromeda single-player

Mass Effect Single-Player support has ended

Mass Effect Andromeda has really gone through the motions since it launched in March. Its lukewarm critical reception was only made worse when woes hit the development studio, with EA repurposing it as a support outlet. The future of Andromeda’s DLC and support lingered, as EA decided to shelve the franchise for the foreseeable future. And not even five months after launch, support for the game is almost ceasing entirely.

In a statement released yesterday, BioWare officially announced that single-player support for Andromeda had come to an end. The portion of the game will no longer be getting any patches, which so far have attempted to help both performance and a myriad of bugs that plagued the game since launch. It also means DLC for the game is dead – as no new acts or story arcs will be developed. A huge departure from the strategy taken with both Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Multiplayer support will continue for the time being, as BioWare continues to address issues in the far less popular co-operative mode. BioWare is seemingly going to keep at it in a big way too, with new missions, gear and maps supposedly in the pipeline for the mode. Although specifics weren’t discussed, you can expect them soon – if you’re still into Andromeda’s mildly interesting take on horde mode.

Still, it’s so sad to have watched this happen in such a short space of time. There’s no knowing what this ultimately means for Mass Effect as a franchise, but it’s clear that the long development on this new saga just hasn’t paid out for EA in the way they hoped. The franchise is going away for now – and who knows how long it will take (if ever) to resurface.

That’s another developer I can cross off the ol’ ‘You have my best interest at heart’ list.

    That list is getting thin.

They could have revived the whole thing by listening to the criticism and making a fantastic DLC for the Quarians.
The citadel DLC for example completely rescued ME3 from the fate its ending left it.

Pathetic, utterly pathetic. Didn’t even offer vaseline, just completely screwed a franchise that gave me so much emotional satisfaction.

This game isn’t worth R900. If you’re still on the fence about getting Meh Erect Assdromeda, rather wait for it to be under R200 on takealot, loot or raru.

I think it’s pathetic how such an AMAZING franchise is treated like dirt. EA is pathetic. Bioware just messed up bad on this. As awesome as Anthem looks I’m disappointed that they put Mass Effect on the sideline like that. This was one of their biggest franchises and they decide to do this. Deeply disappointed. Anthem is just a Destiny kinda game. I dont want to be forced to play multiplayer all the time. I find all these MMO games whether rpg or fps can’t do stories perfectly. I find when a game becomes way too large like MMO’s then stories gets washed down and all they concentrate on is multiplayer aspects like PVP etc.

When EA doesn’t even want to milk your game for more money, you know you ****ed up!

Yeah so so true. Hell Mass Effect has such huge potential that if Ridley Scott or Steven Spielberg could create a big budget trilogy movie franchise I bet it can compete with Star Wars easily. Star Wars fans will probably want to kill me for saying that, but personally for me Mass Effect has more interesting characters, stories and the universe itself is more interesting to me. Then we have Hanz Zimmerman for the Soundtrack or the original creators of the ME soundtrack to do it. That would be perfect!
