Blockbuster massively expands Blu-ray support

In what may turn out to be a crucial move Blockbuster has decided that it is going to expand it’s HD offering to all 1400 (US) stores.

However it is dropping it’s HD-DVD line and going exclusively Blu-Ray. The senior vice president of purchasing, Matthew Smith, has said that 70% of all HD rentals had been Blu-Ray and he cannot ignore those sorts of figures.

Personally I think the Blu-Ray alliance has a hand in this and well done to them for this coup. I doubt more than 30% of Blockbuster clients watch Horrors but they keep stocking those…
