Most games these days are done-in-one experiences that offer little replay value and focus more on tacked-on multiplayer. The original Borderlands and its sequel however, were lengthy forays into the wilderness of Pandora. And you can expect the same kind of length in the Pre-Sequel.
Speaking in an interview with PC Gamer, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford said the game “might be as big, or a little bigger, than Borderlands 1.”
It’s pretty big. I don’t think it’s going to be as big as Borderlands 2. It might be kind of in between the two.
Pitchford also mentioned that the development teams were “still getting a grasp on scope” when it came to game size, and that this Borderlands adventure “should be priced correctly.” Sounds fair to me.
As far as price point goes, I don’t think that’s set in stone yet. It should be priced correctly, so we’ll have to see what happens in the market and understand the actual total value proposition that’s being offered. But I’m the developer. The guys at 2K will figure that out.
The real strength in Borderlands however, isn’t the actual gameplay length. Granted, Borderlands 2 was an easy 15-20 hours of time invested doing missions and side quests. But the game needs to be polished enough to convince explorers to not only return to Pandora, but to do it with a new character or a harder difficulty.
That’s what really made the other games so popular, as well as the co-op experience to rope in a buddy to join you on a quest. The game is looking like some fun, as it charts the rise of Handsome Jack and his minions.
It’ll be out later this year on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

How about you set the price & let us lowly paying customers determine the value? I know I’m capable of handling that little calculation all by myself.
