So apparently consoles are only good for making a name for yourself, earning a pile of cash and then it’s time to move on to lower licenced platforms to roll in more money.

Or that’s what it feels like with the news that Jonathan Blow has decided to not release his next game, The Witness, onto any of the consoles and is rather concentrating on PC and iOS devices only.

His reasoning, as told to Edge, is that the consoles are now sporting 5 year old hardware which is a long time in PC years and as such the technical hurdles he’d have to jump through to get the game working on the Xbox 360 and PS3 would possibly make the game unprofitable.

Personally I see it as being cheeky as Braid was first launched on the Xbox 360 and is the title that shot Mr Blow to fame and it’s like we always here, don’t forget where you came from.

What’s more surprising is that Braid wasn’t a graphical or physical powerhouse and it doesn’t look like The Witness will be either so what part of the older consoles is making his life difficult it beyond me.

But if any larger developers follow his lead it will mark the exact time that this generation ends and a new one begins.

Oh and here’s some early footage of The Witness which was obviously originally designed for the Xbox 360
