British MP Blames Counter-Strike for Race-Related Killings

Recent race-related xenophobic shootings in Malmo, Sweden, in which an obviously disturbed 38-year old man killed one person and tried to do the same with a further 15 have inexplicably been linked to video games. Perpetual scapegoat Counter-Strike, specifically.

That’s according to video-game hating British Labour VP Keith Vaz, anyway. Despite the killings obviously being fuelled by hatred, the killer who was involved in a “year-long campaign of violence against dark-skinned Swedes”must have been a gamer. Because only gamers shoot people.

“The recent race shootings in Malmo, Sweden have been associated with the violent video game Counter-Strike,” he told parliament, requesting that it “further note that the internet-based, first-person shooting game that pits a counter-terrorist team against terrorists was previously banned in Brazil and in 2007 was associated with US College Campus massacres.”

The misguided MP also requested  parliament “ensure the purchase of video games by those under 18 years is controlled and that parents are provided with clear information on the violent content of certain games.”

Did he not notice that the shooter is Thirty-eight years old? According to the gunman’s father, he “lived in fear of immigrants taking over society,” and police reports have made no similar claims of tenuous links to video games. So where does the association come from?

Vaz apparently got his underwear twisted after reading a quote from a local man in the Times newspaper who said. “I am sure that this is down to some crazy kid who plays that sniping game Counter-Strike all day. I don’t believe in the lone Nazi theory.” Why, that’s conclusive! Vaz has previously tried to get Modern Warfare 2 banned, and has raised concern over the violence in games like Bully and Manhunt.

Recently, a woman – obviously affected greatly by the violence in her video game of choice, FarmVille – shook her baby to death.

    Malmo has had racial strife for a while now, primarily because of the VERY large number of muslim immigrants (mostly Iraqis and some afghanis Рthere are suburbs that are completely muslim now and needless to say, while I was in Malm̦ in 2007, there were neo-nazis all over the place)*.

    Granted, these guys were meek in comparison to the oxygen thieves that live on the subway system in Berlin.

    *You can always spot them with the coloured shoe laces (white for white power and red for racially pure blood), buzzcuts and paramilitary clothes they probably bought at a sale from H&M .

    lol, just re-read my post and it seemed a little biased, I’m not saying the immigrants are to blame, however most immigrant groups (especially refugees) are very insular, hardly eager to embrace Swedish/European culture (rather ironic though), and all it really takes is a bunch of working class locals with a chip on their shoulders, and that age old islamophobia to kick in.

    This is actually getting ridiculously stupid, Man kills person, guy mentions counter strike, so it must be counter strikes fault, yet the killers father tells that he lived in fear of migrants taking over society.

    The man lived in fear of migrants taking over society(which could obviously hint at the killers reason for killing). So dumasss Vaz comes to the conclusion that he proceeded to kill a person and almost 15 others because of counter strike…?????NONSENSE! :angry:

    So Vaz must be concluded as been a complete retard. 😆

    This is a classic case of xenophobia.

    @Maxiviper117: agreed.

    Not worth commenting on any further. Blaming violent games and movies for real-life violence is just such trash.

    BTW: WTF plays Counter-Strike these days? :tongue:
