Call of Duty: Ghosts PC requirements are pretty big

Class 5 free repeating teabagger? That'll cost extra

You can give it as much flak as you want, but personally, I’ve always felt that the Call of Duty games have sparkled in the right visual areas. Ghosts features a newer, tweakier engine this year that will still run at that sexy 60 frames per second. Here’s what you’ll need in order to go online and have random trolls enquire about the state of your mom’s genitalia.

According to Geforce, it looks like you’ll be needing plenty of RAM for COD this year. But the biggest requirement here comes in the form of hard drive space needed. An entire 50 of your gigabytes to be exact. Here’s what else you’ll need:

Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
  • RAM: 6 GB RAM
  • HDD: 50 GB HD space
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
  • DirectX: 11
  • Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet connection required for activation.

Recommended System Requirements

  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

If you’re looking to troll other players online, the list of required swear words and recommended racial/gender/sexual orientation slurs will be online shortly.

  1. 50 Gb hard drive space, games are becoming pretty big nowadays. Time to delete my Simfarm and Theme Hospital to make space 🙂

On a totally unrelated note. Many reports suggests that ps4/xboxone might be the last consoles before “cloud” based consoles takes over(or digital only). I don’t c that happening. Ps5 games going to be like 100Gb+? Well it looks like it. So how on earth is SA going to handle those kinds of broadband requirements. Look at the state of Vodacom, they can’t even handle the demand as it is already.

One must never delete the classics (especially Theme Hospital) to make way for another Fish head game. Death to COD! DEATH TO COD!

Theme Hospital was a true game! I still have the original in its box. Absolutely awesome game!

And here ISP are throttling us for using too much of our ‘uncapped’ internet. I bet they crap themselves each time a customer mentions Steam to them.

            October 8, 2013 at 08:09

LOL Telkom just announced that Steam wont use bandwidth if you are a capped customer! I bet they didn’t consider games to be 50gb!

they dont have any of this “Fair usage” bullshit like other ISP’s….cough mweb cough…..and their after-service is pretty damn good too.

            October 8, 2013 at 08:30

I want to pull out my hair when I think about the ‘fair usage’ clause. I think it’s pretty damn fair that I pay for my games and want to download them over Steam.

            October 8, 2013 at 08:49

Afrihost don’t throttle but they will “manage” your line once you pass a certain threshold 😉

Though this comment sums it up quite well –
“Things just don’t run smoothly 100% of the time, in any business! Things go wrong…you know…**** happens.Especially if you’re dependent on other parties (e.g. MTN and Telkom). For all we know the OP’s problem is localised to a specific area/exchange etc.”

          • FoxOneZA

            October 8, 2013 at 12:43

Agreed. There’s more than one player messing up the ADSL experience for customers and the common denominator is Telkom :/

          • ElNicko

            October 8, 2013 at 14:36

Yep . now imagine in a perfect SA , where we had more than 1 telecoms company. (I know atm we have Iburst and Neotel , but they are nowhere near as powerful as telkom)

I remember being impressed by 1997’s Bladerunner which had a full install of 1.2/1.4gb. But then I saw on GOG that Wing Commander IV : The Price of Freedom which came out in 1995 had a total size of 6.2gb! I don’t think that was an option though(to install all at once – nobody back then had 6gb space on their drives – I had to borrow a hard drive to install Half life for the first time 😛 ). You started the game with CD1 and ended with CD6

With the new gen I can expect most of us to only be able to fit 10 games on a 500 gig harddrive, and that’s fine by me, all the extra flashy bits takes up space! Not to mention the CoD DoG.

I also have the 560ti and all the latest releases run buttery smooth on max detail (fxaa not msaa). But BF4 is a beast so I guess next gen titles will punish the card. Although that said, the specs of Ghost hardly justify what we have been shown. They really are pushing that old engine and it’s showing.

HAHAH! Ya, running from USB at the moment too, but surely compressing the data means that there is lag as it uncompresses it? I note with games like Skyrim, if you play for the disk you can see more textures, faster than if you play from the HD.

            October 8, 2013 at 09:28

Most games are faster on HDD, but some say they work better off usb on Xbox 360, I mean in some ways dont get that as xbox 360 read speed is like 60mb per sec @981f6ab637e94c6971773da64a49594e:disqus correct me if I am wrong.. What I don’t get is for like gta v how many people have had different ways of getting best performance… some standard Hdd and DVD others usb DVD and then hdd usb and finally usb and usb. (some claimed both on high speed usbs gave the best performance..

            October 8, 2013 at 10:03

I haven’t gotten down to the USB HDD debacle for GTA 5 but it seems like the SATA HDD controller used in the XBox 360 is far too ancient to keep up with USB 2.0. A Class 10 USB flash drive can surpass the average SATA 1 HDD.
