We’ve surmised that the launch libraries for both new consoles is a bit lacking; there’s maybe a game or two on each system that’s really worth playing, and little else to get really excited about yet. That most certainly seems to be true. While EA may make claims about one in three games for new systems being from its stable, the single most played game on both new systems is, yes, you guessed it – Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Citing metrics its sourced from Sony and Microsoft, Activision’s said that it’s latest Call of Duty is the number one game on both systems.
"Around the globe, Call of Duty: Ghosts is leading the next generation. It’s the #1 selling title at key retailers and it’s also the most played game on Xbox One and PS4 globally," said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg in a release..
"As we’ve said before, we’ve got the best community of fans in the world, and we’re thrilled they’re coming with us to the next generation."
The curious thing is that once again, Activision has refrained from releasing solid sales figures, which they tend to do in a boastful bit of showboatery a few days after every Call of Duty release. They have announced a billion dollars in retail sales – but that was in units sold to retailers, not through to paying customers.
There’s much supposition and conjecture that Call of Duty as a whole is beginning to falter, and not just in quality. while Ghosts is arguably the weakest game in the series since the very rushed Call of Duty 3, it’s also quite possible the poorest selling since the series began its sales domination after Modern Warfare.

Don’t really get the statement “Ghosts
is arguably the weakest game in the series”. Ignoring single player, which
is not the reason anybody actually buys it, I think the Multilayer has been improved from previous games (That said it really didn’t take much to improve on Black Ops 2). Even the “Worlds best best video game news” site referred to it as the best call of duty experience yet.just saying

Gavin Mannion

Yup I disagree with Geoff, I think the multiplayer on Ghosts is a solid improvement and definitely not the weakest in the series

Best Call of Duty experience? Not a chance. Aim down sight feels like you are lifting and anvil and feels slow. Original Modern Warfare is still far superior. As for single player? While Battlefield 4 had a pretty pointless story, COD in comparison makes there pointless story feel like masterpiece theater.

I disagree with you on the SP point. Unlike BF, COD has always been very much cherished for it’s SP experience, as well as MP.

I consider it better than black ops, but not as good as the modern warfare series.
the modern warfare series had a solidness that theyv messed around with in Ghosts, and everything about the game just feels… weaker.
I was hoping that this game would restore my faith in the game, the last decent CoD i enjoyed properly was MW2, and even that, was flawed.
I’m hoping that with my gfx card upgrade, I’ll be able to enjoy Ghosts more, but im not getting my hopes up.
