Can Sonic save the Nintendo Wii U?

Way back in May Zoe spoke about the irony of Sega possibly becoming the saviour for the floundering Wii U and a mere 3 months later it appears she may actually have been onto something with the release of the new trailer for Sonic Lost World.

All old school gamers know how amazing the original Sonic titles were and we wallowed in misery when it tumbled into mediocrity, but I dare any of you to watch this video and say it doesn’t bring back that nostalgia in waves.

Yeah the graphics aren’t mind blowing but games like this aren’t about the graphics they are about the experiences and the platforming looks as solid as ever. But what’s even more exciting is that it looks like they’ve mixed in a whole bowl of Super Mario Galaxy, possibly the best game of this generation, into the mix and you are going to be swopping between 2D platforming and the 3D insanity that was SMG.

Can one game save an entire console? If it’s as good as I hope this will be then absolutely. This is the game parents my age will buy for their kids this Christmas and after that there is no reason to stop buying titles for the Wii U as it really isn’t a bad console at all.

No. History has shown that one game cannot make a games console. What are they thinking?

They must be grinding gears in their heads!

But it sounds like uncharted territory to me.

A call to arms and let slip the dogs of war, that is the ticket. Over and over and over and over

Wii-U has more of a core emphasis… That said Nintendo has always enjoyed an “adorable” style, even on many of their most twistedly challenging games.

Honestly I think its part of the reason so many of us like them, they tend to seem to offer a brighter escape than the grim worlds that get associated with its rivals.

If you’re in Europe, BUY NOW, Amazon have given it a price cut but Pikmin 3’s success may drive the price back up.

Buy it now if you can find a good deal, if the console sales pick up when the games start releasing at a couple per month, you will be hard pressed to find those good deals.

There’s more than Sonic coming to the Wii U and one game does not make a console.

BTW the Wii U Basic Pack is going for R2500 on Kalahari.
