A US news station ran a story about one of their presenters’ boyfriends/husbands who is an avid World of Warcraft player. The story is actually all about the “language” spoken by these hopelessly addicted gamers, and it’s quite special to say the least.

I used to play Guild Wars quite often, but I kept my involvement fairly light, only playing PVE (player vs environment aka campaign mode) and never really got into the Player vs Player idea as well as all of the tactics and lingo associated with it.

The language can get a bit crazy at times, I know because I have heard it for myself.

More after the jump.

A friend of mine however, used to play in a lot of PVP tournaments and was also a big fan of World of Warcraft, and listening to him and his guild members play a game was like going to the opera, cause there was a lot going on and plenty of words coming out their mouths but I didn’t understand what in the hell they were talking about.

They do however, blow it out of proportion somewhat, with only the most hardcore people using language like that and usually only with their own buddies. The problem with that is obviously that someone who is looking to possibly get into online gaming may be intimidated by what they saw in the article and choose to give it a skip instead.
