Capcom vs Fan

Remember a while back Capcom were caught out using an IGN watermarked image in their box art?

Well this time they have gone one better and appeared to have leaned heavily on a fans box art cover when coming  up with their own design.

If you take a look at the image above (slapped together by Bingegamer) you will see the awesome new Resident Evil official box art to the left, and the surprisingly similar fan made box art on the right.

Granted the fan was using images directly from Capcom but the similarities are pretty remarkable none the less… I wonder if he can sue them for a free game and a T-Shirt…

Being an artist, i hate seeing this kind of thing…

Unfortunately, as it was a piece of fanart, and Capcom do own the characters, the chap wont have much of a foot to stand on. Another fine example, of a corporation crapping on the little guy.

The least they could do was give him credit for its design, atleast that way he gets some publicity, but at the same time, he will atleast get publicity because they stole it.

Well the artwork isnt that much alike… the one has the map of africa the other one doesnt…. I wouldnt be suprize if Capcom go on all the game cover sites picking the sexiest fan art cover and tweak it a bit making it they’re own 😛
