Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate announced for console

If you’re a Castlevania fan, then there’s a good chance that you’ve played a game in the series based on the Symphony of the Night model of vampire-stakin’. After all, there’s years worth of games based on that style. Last year’s Mirror of Fate though, was a successful blend between old and new Castlevania games. And now, it’s headed to console.

It’s official; Castelvania Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will be available on Xbox Live and Playstation Network from October 21. According to the Konami press release, the interquel set between Lords of Shadow and its upcoming sequel will have an HD boost from the 3DS version, online leaderboards, and a “Boss Rush Mode”.

In addition to that, grabbing the game also nets players a demo of Lords of Shadow 2 before it hits retail. No details yet on pricing, and I’m also curious how this version of the game will work without 3D effects and certain touch pad additions that made it special.

Mirror of Fate was a great blend between the style of Lords of Shadow and older games of Castlevania that came before the widely-adopted Symphony of the Night model. It’s also hard as nails, challenging and a good reminder of why Castlevania games are so addictive. Just one more castle room, just one more…
