I don’t know how this happened, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now less than a month away. That’s right, it’s almost here. The wait feels interminable, but we’re about to get our hands on it. While some people might be patient and just wait for the game to arrive, I’m keen on every detail I can get about the game, including this video about voice acting.
Charles Dance is jumping into video game voice acting for the first time, and what better role for him than Emhyr var Emreis, the ruthless Emperor of Nilfgaard. He typically plays villains or “assertive bureaucrats” and his most high profile TV/film roles include The Master Vampire in Dracula Untold, Dr Jonathan Clemens in Alien 3 and Alastair Denniston in The Imitation Game. Oh, and he’s also Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones. I don’t care, though, just listen to that voice – it’s gorgeous.
The story between Emhyr van Emreis and Ciri is intense and I’m glad to see it’s one that will be fleshed out in The Witcher 3. These characters are so deep and intense, with voice acting that perfectly suits each personality. I love seeing the details that make this game come to life, and it’s great to see an old-school performer rave about video games and fantasy.
What are you playing until The Witcher 3 comes? Are you already budgeting your time for launch, or is it just another cool looking game that you’ll play when you get the chance?

I’ve been getting my RPG on with Divinity Original Sin, and of course old faithful Warframe. I better finish D:OS before Witcher 3 arrives, or else I’ll end up with another Dark Souls situation & get too distracted to ever finish it.

Continuing my “Nostalgia Gaming Tour” until Project Cars arrives on the 8th May and then The Witcher 3 on the 19th May!
Finished all 3 Bioshocks already. At the moment playing Batman Arkham Asylum. Then it’s on to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. IF… there’s time after that (before the above mentioned releases), then I’m really wanting to start another Mass Effect playthrough (from the very beginning). Or perhaps Red Dead Redemption. But that’s totally time dependent.
When Witcher 3 arrives, all other games shall fall before it. And there shall be a great reckoning within the Kingdom like none that have come before it!! **cough** Sorry – was falling into character a little early there…

Exactly!! Man, I wanna start that now! But I know if I do, all other games I’m busy with will be lost… That’s why I’m keeping it for when I’m done with my current game – hoping to start this weekend (perfect timing for the long weekend… Although my gf may have something to say about that). 🙂

That sounds like a plan! My only problem is that I start with the best of intentions wrt stealth… And then end up going in, guns blazing (I love causing me some mayhem!).

Currently I’m busy with GTA V in it’s glorious PC remaster…yes, yes, I did just use PC and remaster in one sentence, On the 7th of May I’ll be indulging in some proper track racing, which will keep me busy for quite some time and then on the 19th there is this…. How far is the cure for sleep? I believe they made some great strides in the last few years…

Looking forward to the Witcher 3, actually. Just hope it’s everything I want and more. Because I don’t support DRM anymore (thank you RyanZA) I’ll probably have to ARRRRRR! MATEY! a copy. Pity. I would have bought it straight on Steam. But DRM is the devil.

In all seriousness, I usually don’t buy the voice acting when big time actors come into the gaming scene. Sometimes… they just don’t seem to take it seriously enough. But Charles Dance has hit the nail on the head. And with a sombre voice as good as Mark Strong, I’m saying this would a good choice!
