I’ve made it pretty clear before that GT5 is not on the top of my list of must have titles, I tried it out at E3 and wasn’t the least bit impressed. Nick however thought it was the best thing since sliced bread so I guess it depends on what sort of game you are looking for.
However even I have to admit that these video’s, which have been uploaded to YouTube by some guy who got some hands on with the title at BestBuy, really do make the game look fantastic.
The smoke effects are mind blowing and the graphics overall are more than just a little impressive. It’s still an early build so the minor problems around no tire marks and barrier physics should be resolved before the game finally see’s the light of day in November.

I’m one of those people that loves all racing simulation games no matter what platform it resides on, but I must admit I’m quite impressed with how GT5 is looking so far.
My only crit, although probably not a valid one (as it’s still in development of course) is that the smoke effects seem to abruptly stop after the wheels regain grip. having taken part in and watched a fair few drift races myself the smoke tends to linger in the wheel arches afterwards, leaving a light haze of smoke behind the car for a few seconds. seeing it abruptly stop seems kinda strange to me.
But hey it’s still awesome to see more realistic smoke! 🙂
