Child of light battle

One of my most anticipated games for the year has to be Child of Light. A fairytale-inspired RPG with watercolor design? Please just take all my money! Now, I know when I can throw money at it – and it’s not much longer to wait.

According to an announcement on the Ubisoft Blog, Child of Light will release on 30 April 2014 for $14.99. You can play this beautiful peace of art told in rhyming verse on PS3 and PS4 (via the PSN), Xbox 360 and Xbox One (via Xbox Live), Wii U (via the eShop) and PC (via Steam). So, just about every platform. This game is so beautiful, I might just have to get it on all my machines just to make them prettier by proxy.

With turn-based combat inspired by classic JRPGs, Child of Light tells a pretty standard JRPG style story, but it still seems to be unique:

Prepare to be swept away by this charming coming-of-age tale in which Aurora must free the sun, moon and stars, which are held captive by the Queen of the Night, in an epic adventure that has our hero facing everything from fierce dragons to her darkest fears.

Aren’t all JRPGs coming of age stories? You are a young boy/girl who must go against your parents/mentor and become a rebel against an evil authority. Yet, I never get tired of it. It’s so great to fight against evil and learn new strength while engaging with various environments. Yes, that will be my JRPG game pitch.

For those who still haven’t seen it, check out the feature trailer and all its beauty.

Fantastic. So hype for this game has a time bar for casting. Hopefully we can cancel enemy spells. Do it, Grandia style!

I woke up this morning and my first thought was “Remember that game DopeWars?”

It was just an app you installed and well you sold drugs. Man I miss that…

Child of Light is “being released” on 30 April, not Child of Light “is releasing” 30 April. Let’s not fall into this terrible bit of internet grammar that has become the norm and which actually implies that the game itself is releasing something, not that it is being released. Thank you.
