COD: World at War – Xbox 360 exclusive?

After watching the first official COD: World at War trailer, I noticed something rather interesting at the end. Underneath the “codwaw” logo I saw the Games for Windows logo as well as an Xbox 360 logo, but lo and behold, no mention of the PS3.

I did a bit of digging and came across some scans on the N4G forums from the upcoming Play magazine and from what I can tell, it looks like a PS3 version is in the works but is having some serious issues. Are they bad enough that the game could get cancelled?

Scans and more after the jump.

I have highlighted the text that concerned me from this scan. What on earth could be happening that the PS3 version could be suffering so badly?

There is talk that the PS3 version could even be cancelled, but I can’t see that happening in a million years. COD4 is running just fine on the PS3 so I don’t see any reason for measures that drastic to be taken. It’s common knowledge that a lot of games use the Xbox 360 as their lead platform, but there is no excuse that could save Treyarch from screwing up the PS3 version so badly that they would have to consider canceling it.

Let’s hope that word gets out about this and that we can be given an official statement from Treyarch or Activision soon. Even if the cancelation wasn’t an option, we have to deal with the fact that the PS3 version is apparently looking a lot worse than the PC and 360 versions. If this is the case, then they have a lot of explaining to do.

  1. Strange since Treyarch nearly got the PS3 up to the Xbox360 standards in Cod3. They need to call up Cod4 devs and ask for help.

Not that it’s an excuse: but nobody seems to be at all interesed in this as it’s not being developed by Infinity Ward and is going back to WW2.

So Infinity Ward know how to dev for the PS3 and the new guys don’t. Personally i don’t see this selling many copies at all.

I have to agree, these poor developers are really up against popular opinion at the moment… I wouldn’t write them off though, this game may be better than we expect.

I thought this was using the COD4 engine?

Then again WW2 is soooo last year! 😉

I’ll get it on sale later then.

I think one of the big factors that will contribute to it’s failure is that COD4 is still going to be huge when it comes out, current COD4 players are not going to want to start again with a game they already think is not going to be as good.

I’m conviced COD5 is going to bomb, even if it’s a very good game. Sentiment just seems to be overwhelmingly against it at the moment.

I agree, CoD5 is going to tank. Not only does it have “B-team, CoD4 goes backwards” going for it, but (you know it’s coming ;)) Battlefield’s going to pwn!

Also noticed the lack of a PS3 logo at the end of the trailer – weird? Can’t imagine them ignoring the PS3, especially given that COD4 runs really well on it.

What they could be doing, which I think is their best bet. Is to Make a really deep single player campaign.

COD4’s multiplayer is going to be really tough to beat, but I wouldn’t mind charging through another good COD campaign if it was fun and long enough.

    Okay that facts are.

COD 4 Engine is being used. (Optomised)
    Main Developer = Treyarch
However = Being overseen by Infinity Ward with lots of interaction from the Infinity Ward Team.
    Game is looking awesome

    There’s also no Wii logo….
Apparently, the Xbox Live Marketplace got first bite at the trailer, which is why there are no logos for the other platforms.

Treyarch made a mess of COD3, they should just leave the COD franchise entirely to Infinity Ward. If I have to choose between this and BIA: Hell’s Highway, I’ll definitely go with BIA.
