[Update: 100% Confirmed on Xbox.com! Crackdown 2 info has been put up on xbox.com and it has Crackdown 2 listed for 2-16 players, and 1-4 player co-op. Sweet]

I was just looking at a short clipping from the press release for Crackdown 2 that was announced a couple of hours ago, and realised something rather interesting.

The press release states that the game will not only have co-operative play, but will have competitive modes as well. But when reading it, something caught my eye. Here is a snippet from the press release:

“you and your friends with the complete freedom to explore, destroy and play as you return to restore justice and peace to Pacific City – by any means necessary.”

Do you see what I see?

That’s right, in the first line, it says “you and your friends” with the emphasis on the “s”. While no official announcement has been made, it looks like we are going to be seeing possible 4 or more players able to play co-operatively throughout the game, and we all know that the co-op was undoubtedly the best part of the first Crackdown.

Also, I highly doubt that the game will only have 1 vs 1 competitive multiplayer, so it’s pretty safe to say that it’s going to happen.

This is great news, and I really hope that it doesn’t end up just being some sort of typo or misunderstanding.

You read it here first folks.

  1. Four player Co-op would blow my mind.
Playing co-op in Crackdown with just one friend was more then enough to make it worth playing, so with three friends running around and causing chaos. It should be brilliant!
