This week, prepare to buy. Dark Souls 3 is finally here, as From Software says goodbye to the franchise which saw numerous TV screens obliterated in bouts of impotent rage thanks to some bosses being absolutely cheesy bastards. Hell, I never even made it past the main menu, that’s how hard the original game was.
The big draw of Dark Souls has always been the bosses. Dark Souls 3 has plenty of them, fiendish titans and kings who are more than happy to reintroduce you to a familiar game over screen. And you’re going to need all the help you can get. We’re busy with a work-in-progress guide right now for the game, so expect this page to be updated plenty as the Dark Souls 3 community shares tips and strategies this week and onwards.

Dancer of the Boreal Valley
Location
Found in a cathedral near the end of the High Wall of Lothric. After you have defeated Aldrich, Devourer of Gods (or whichever Lord of Cinder was killed last) you’ll be teleported into this room and an old woman will beg you to save Prince Lothric. She’ll drops the Basin of Vows and 1000 souls. If you walk towards the statue, the fight will trigger.
You can also trigger the fight early in Dark Souls 3, after you have spoken to the NPC in the church and joined her covenant. Kill her, take the item she drops and place it on the altar to summon the boss.

Combat Information
- Weak to lightning Damage
- Moves slowly, attacks quickly
- Wields a flaming blade for the first 50% of her health
- After her health is knocked below 50%, she summons an ash blade and attacks with both
Yhorm the giant
Location
Yhorm can be found waiting behind a Fog Wall in the Profaned Capital in the lower part of the temple.

- Soul of Yhorm, Cinder of a Lord
Combat Information
- Weak to the Storm Ruler, which can be found inside the boss arena at the throne. Charged Stormruler attacks do significantly increased damage against Yhorm
- Yhorm will at times slam both hands on the ground, a frontal attack that cannot be blocked
Curse-Rotted Greatwood
Location
Can be found near the end of the Undead Settlement, by the dilapidated bridge that is nearest to the bonfire bonfire.

- Transposing Kiln, Soul of the Rotted Greatwood
Combat Information
- Damage the Greatwood by hitting the egg-like sacks on his hand, leg, groin or back. Four to five of these attacks will stun him and cause major damage
- In the second attack phase, a large white arm will emerge from the center of Greatwood’s body that you can also attack
- The undead in the first phase will spawn infinitely until you fall down the pit. Greatwood will also swipe them away.
Vordt of the Boreal Valley
Location
Vordt can be found at the bottom of the High Wall of Lothric
Drops

Combat Information
- Vordt uses slash, Buff, Ice breath and Charge attacks
Iudex Gundyr
Location
Iudex Gundyr can found in the Cemetery of Ash by the Firelink Shrine. An immobile statue at first, pull the sword from his chest to start the fight.

Combat Information
- Iudex Gundyr can be Parried
- Iudex Gundyr is weak against fire in his second phase
- You’ll need plenty od dodge skill to survive Iudex Gundyr’s quick attacks and sweeps
Aldrich, Devourer of Gods
Location
In Anor Londo, inside the cathedral where you fought Ornstein and Smough way back in Dark Souls 1.
Drops
- Souls
- Cinders of a Lord, Soul of Aldrich
Combat Information
- Aldrich swings his “Gravelord-Halberd” in a wide arc that deals high damage in his first phase
- Aldrich throws two charged spears at you that can pass through pillars
- Aldrich can summon Homing Soul Mass attacks that track you down for low damage
Abyss Watchers
Location
At the very end of Farron Keep.
Drops
- Soul of the Blood of the Wolf
- Souls
Combat Information
- When entering the room, the boss will charge at you and leave itself open for an easy backstab
- A low poise means that you can chain a few attacks together
- When three Watchers are in the room, they will fight each other and leave you a chance to sneak in some attacks
Crystal Sage
Location
Can be found on the Road of Sacrifices.
Drops
- Souls
Combat Information
- Weak to lightning damage
- Summons copies of himself, which can easily be destroyed within a few hits
Deacons of the Deep
Location
Can be found in the Cathedral of the Deep.
Drops
- Souls
- Small Doll, Soul of the Deacons of the Deep
Combat Information
- To do damage to the Deacon, you need to kill the enemies inhabited by the red glowing orb that switches between undead hosts
- The next jump is random upon death of said enemy or when the timer runs out
- The other deacons will respawn infinitely even if you did kill them
- In phase two, the red orb will stay in a single undead
- Attack the casters at this point, to avoid heavy fireball damage
High Lord Wolnir
Location
Can be found in the Catacombs of Carthus, at the very end. Touch the skull on the altar in front of the stairs, to start the fight.

Combat Information
- You will need to shatter his bracelets to kill and damage Lord Wolnir
- You cannot summon any NPC phantoms for this fight.
- The cloud that Lord Wolnir summons does heavy damage over time
- Ignore the skeletons that he summons, as they can be easily killed by his own swipes
Pontiff Sulyvahn
Location
- In Irithyll of the Boreal Valley , the closest bonfire will be by the Church of Yorshka after you unlock the gate shortcut to the left of the boss room and down a set of stairs

Old Demon King
Location
At the smouldering lake, which can be found by the collapsing the wooden bridge in the Catacombs of Carthus.

Ancient Wyvern
Location
In Archdragon Peak, after you have acquired the Path of the Dragon Gesture from the area directly after the Oceiros, the Consumed King boss fight. Go to the Irithyll Dungeon and head towards the dragon statue where you picked up the Dragon Torso Stone. Use that Gesture next to it.

I’d much rather stagger through it myself, thanks very much, than spoil some awesome surprises. I love those Dark Souls moments when I see a new creature and wonder what sort of twisted mind cooked it up. Those are MY people!
