4K resolution! Anti-aliasing! Increased chest jiggle physics! Now that’s exactly what I want to see in a PC port for a fighting game. And that’s what you’ll see plenty of in Dead Or Alive this week as it hits the PC platform. Pity that you won’t see several other features which are standard in these kinds of games.
That’s because Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round has pretty much been stripped of them. Online multiplayer only arrives in the next three months with a new patch, which is just the tip of what not to expect in the game. Other missing features include:
- There are no Steam achievements.
- Steam Cloud isn’t supported.
- Zero rumble support for gamepads.
- In-game visual effects are equivalent to the PlayStation 3 version of Dead Or Alive 5, not the PS4 version
- Two stages—The Danger Zone, The Crimson—have been left out
- Did I mention that there is no multiplayer for the next three months? WHAT’S UP WIT DAT?
PC is where a great console game should be better. The thing is, Team Ninja haven’t hidden this away from curious eyes. They’ve been open, honest and forthcoming about the fact that Dead Or Alive 5 missing some features. Still, what’s the point of releasing a game in this legendary franchise, when it’s getting gimped. That’s not something that will leave Dead Or Alive fans feeling happy.
All tens of them, that is.

Looks like it has a pretty obvious pair of features to me.

I hope they realise that they are probably going to be losing most of the potential Day 1 purchases.

Looking at the header it seems all the clothes made it, which is funny because they sell the lack of clothes as DLC. The mods should be interesting.

What we used to call “Features” has been replaced with “DLC”.

DLC has also mostly replaced unlockable content. Stuff that required skill or time to get now can be bought with a swipe of a credit card. Gaming has died a little thanks to this careless practice.

A shame really, I miss the idea of a complete game with hidden areas and looking for that insane weapo that obliterated enemies, nowadays you buy them…

It’s quite disturbing to think that the game doesn’t ship with mp, especially in today’s terms, but then again, I’d rather they finish it properly before releasing it… And tens of fans! We could start a club…

The thing I find hard to swallow is the I7 870 or over CPU requirement. I am a bit new-ish to PC gaming, but surely for a game that can run on a PS3 that’s a bit overkill?
