Demon’s Souls coming to PS4?

Demon s souls

Demon’s Souls, for those who never played it, is the niche title that put From Software on the map. It introduced the unique style we’ve come to know and love – difficult gameplay that rewards patience over recklessness, intriguing lore and storytelling that is told via item descriptions and the tiniest of hints rather than straight forward exposition, and the ability for players to glitch/cheese their way past bosses and challenges. And it might be coming to PlayStation 4.

A new tweet from the Bloodborne official account is a bit coy but seems to be dropping such a hint:

Like Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls was developed with supervision from Sony Computer Entertainment, so it would make sense for the title to get a PS4 port. Perhaps this could be part of an announcement planned at PlayStation experience in San Francisco this weekend. Plus, with Miyazaki talking about wanting to work on other projects, perhaps we could see a future for the Demon’s Souls franchise – there are all sorts of theories about how its lore links into other games, and it could be intriguing to pursue those further.

I adore the style of the Souls/Bloodborne games and love that From Software has helped players return to the joy that challenging gaming experiences can bring. I do wonder, however, if the studio should push themselves so much, releasing new games each year. Maybe it’s doable for them, but I just worry that it will lead to a diluted experience.

I’d grab this in a heartbeat. Been wanting to play Demon Souls since I first played Dark Souls on my 360.

It’s still the toughest of all the Souls games.

Ditto. Demon’s Souls is an absolute beast. The slog from each Archstone to the boss was such a mission. Seriously, bonfires and lamps are for casuals.

I guess I wasn’t really into gaming that much when Demon’s Souls came out (I only got as far as the Flamelurker. But that trek to the first Archstone boss (the slimy shield thing) was the most fun I’d ever had at that stage I reckon. No auto saves, no checkpoints, punished for dying too much.

That first part of the game to the Phalanx was brutal. Those mouth breathing Blue eyed knights were terrifyingly powerful. You had to learn parry and riposte very quickly. You were really thrown in the end.

And don’t talk about the Flamelurker. That thing was an absolute bitch. Probably one of the toughest bosses in all of the Souls games.

Man, I want to plat this game again. 🙁

Thing is, you could always leave and go do another stage and come back later when you are leveled up.

In my opinion, the best of the series.

I think it’s easier than Dark Souls though, in large part because you can hoard items that heal your health and replenish your spells.

No dude, I found Demon’s Souls a much harder game. Might be because it was the first one I played. But like I said, you didn’t have regular check points along the way in the form of bonfires. Sure you can open up shortcuts, but even those were not that easy.

          Fair enough, I guess.

It would have been nice to be able to port around.

I still remember, vividly, the feeling of sheer disbelief I had when I saw the Tower Knight for the 1st time and after dying about 2 minutes later that I would have to run that bridge again. One of my favourite DeS memories, along with the memory of actually beating him!

*I’ve only battled him 3 times.

The boss fights in Dark Souls were piss easy compared to Bloodborne.
