Deoxys vs Rayquaza

I think we’ve got to a point now where legendary Pokémon are about as rare as aggressive Jozi drivers on the highway. There are a ton of legendaries after six generations of PokémonPokemon, but hell, they’re still worth pursuing thanks to their insane stats and growth rates. The latest Pokemon remakes feature their own fair share of ultra-rare Pokémon, and that includes a certain hyper-evolved space strand of DNA. Yes, Pokémon is weird like that.

You won’t just be rehashing the same 8 gym leaders, Elite Four challenge in the Pokémon remakes, as players will also encounter a new story in the Delta Episode. Here’s the trailer for that:

Basically, the only way to save the world from being destroyed by the DNA Pokémon Deoxys is to battle it. IN SPACE! Here’s the official blurb from Nintendo, which is wonderfully ridiculous:

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire introduce a new story, the Delta Episode, which reveals the history of the Hoenn region and thrusts Trainers into a quest to save the world. The Mossdeep Space Center, a research facility for studying space and rocket science, discovers that a giant asteroid is hurtling toward the planet. Trainers must stop Team Magma and Team Aqua from attacking the facility. Meanwhile, a battle in space is brewing between the Sky High Pokémon Rayquaza and the DNA Pokémon Deoxys, a powerful Pokémon that can transform between four distinct Formes: Normal Forme, Attack Forme, Defense Forme, and Speed Forme. Rayquaza faces a fateful challenge that will determine the future of Hoenn.

Helping Trainers restore peace to the Hoenn region are Sootopolis City’s Gym Leader, Wallace, and the Hoenn region’s Champion, Steven, both of whom hold secrets to stopping the asteroid. Trainers will also meet Zinnia, a mysterious girl rumoured to possess the key to the fate of the world. Zinnia wears a Mega Anklet set with one of the mysterious Key Stones, which allows her Salamence to Mega Evolve.

Delta

Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby appears to be the Pokemon game where capturing legendaries takes precedence. Thanks to Mirage Spots, players can encounter various legendary trinities such as:

  • Raikou – Entei – Suicune
  • Uxie – Mesprit – Azelf
  • Cobalion – Terrakion – Virizion
  • Tornadus – Thundurus – Landorus

As well as other minor legendaries such as Heatran and Cresselia. Depending on which version of the game is being played of course. Gotta buy ‘em all! The other set of Hoenn titans, Regice,Regirock and Registeel will also be present, if you want to catch ‘em and then unlock a battle with Regigigas. Holy crap, this is starting to get ridiculous.

Game is out later this month. Now if you’ll pardon me, I have to get all my Pokémon organised in the previous games so that I can transport them over. Level 100 dragons yo!
