Ether Chest

What the hell is an Ether chest? It’s a gateway to all your hopes, dreams and goals in life. Provided said ambitions revolve around obtaining fantastic loot in Destiny. The latest Destiny patch has thrown these sought-after chests into the game, provided that you were able to vanquish several of the wanted Fallen in the Queen’s Wrath bounties. They’re still hard as nails to find however, but we’ve got your back.

Once you’ve murdered a specific Fallen target, you’ll have around 60 seconds to find one of the Ether chests, which spawn randomly at certain locations. But they’re well worth the hunt, as they contain everything from ammo, weapon materials to legendary engrams. Big thanks to the numerous Guardians of Reddit for figuring out a bunch of locations already. Images are hyperlinked in the descriptions, for those of you who want to avoid spoilers.

lol are those real legendary engrams, or Destiny’s corrupted version of it? I can already hear Bungie laugh “Dance for us peasants! Dance for our amusement. We gave you a quarter of the game we promised you, with a lot of fluff to pad it out. Here have some more fluff, you morons!”. KACHING KACHING!

My House Of Wolves first impressions.

With HOW, the team I was with decided we will be taking our
time. Explore every hook nick and cranny and get the most out of the game. With
the queen’s bounties leaving us with a lot of engrams, we spent the first hour
in the reef, decrypting our engrams. It was slow, looking at all the new gear.
But was fun to get something different. After that we started the story
    missions.

The total House of Wolves story can be completed in about 1
    hour total by speed runners.

We however did not speed run the story. We took our time,
found every single ghost, and including doing the nightfall and Prison of
elders match, it took us 5 hours to do everything.

Going to the reef after each mission is time consuming. The
story itself is forgettable. I will be honest in saying that they have not
fixed any of the flaws in the story telling method. And most of the time, we
found ourselves more focussed on exploring that the story itself. I know the
story has got to do with the main protagonist being a Kell, which you need to
stop. I will not go into the plot any more than that. But will say that what
you need to do is the same.

Each mission has got the same feel to it. There were a
couple of surprises here and there. But it comes down to go there, kill
enemies, run there, kill enemies, mini boss fight, kill more enemies. Final
    boss fight.

We did however get a new gun. A secondary sidearm. Which is
a rapid fire pistol. It is honestly one of the best weapons I have played with.
I could not stop using it. I really wish there is one that can be equipped as
your primary weapon, as it is just that good.

So, what was it that made us smile. Well, going into
previously explored areas, going places previously closed. The game was just
very enjoyable. We found ourselves getting excited over the smallest thing. It
was something new, it was exciting, and it was fun.

The strike itself follows the same basic lines as all the
other strikes out there. But there are more shock factors. We found ourselves
back peddling more than any other strike, and it is a lot easier to get
    surrounded by enemies.

Now Finally the Prison of Elders. We only did the LVL28 one,
as the higher level ones were locked till you complete at least one lvl28 POE
run. And to be honest, a bit of a disappointment. We went in there with hope.
But it is just a horde more. You go in, fight enemies. On lvl 28, it was hardly
a battle, and more a slaughter. We decimated the enemies, and was done with it
all very quickly. Nothing provided a challenge. Most strikes are harder than
    the POE LVL 28.

Once you have completed it, you need to have a treasure key
to open the main chest. And this is another major issue. Keys are found through
farming. For me to get my first key, I had to do 12 hours of farming, before
the launch of HOW. Chasing the wolf packs all over. That is a lot of time
to spend, for something that gives you a single exotic, and a legendary.

For an overall score, I feel it deserves a 7 – 8 out of 10.
The game is good, it is fun, it was entertaining, but it suffers the major
Destiny flaw, it is farming intensive and will get old really fast. I feel that
POE does not make up for the fact that there is no raid. The POE is not a big
enough challenge to complete. Yes, the higher level will add a new level of
difficulty, but it has no real tactic to it. There is no puzzles to solve, or
real teamwork involved. Everybody stick together, shoot enemies, take out
    priority targets.

Essentially, POE, is the first part of the crota run, that
you have to do 4 times, against the different enemy types.

I will probably try Trials of Osiris tonight, but for now,
    this is my first impressions.
