Destiny update could delay House of Wolves

Wolf den

Destiny’s House of Wolves is coming and it just might lead to a spike in players. For those looking forward to the expansion, though, there might be a slight delay. But don’t worry, you’d prefer a delay considering Bungie’s explanation.

Over on the Bungie forum, community manager DeeJ explained that a recent update may be causing some issues:

I’ve spoken with the finest minds at Bungie about Update 1.2.0 just moments ago. They’re working to correct a late-breaking technical issue that would have impacted the way the game launches for a large portion of you. Progress is being made.

We’ll be sharing new details on the deployment schedule that leads to House of Wolves as soon as they become facts. At the very least, you’ll hear from me once a day about this. Hang in there, and thank you for your patience.

So the update could have broken the expansion. Maybe. Obviously it’s still in the “head’s up” phase rather than some form of official notification, but it’s nice of Bungie to inform its fans this way. Some people are making plans to play House of Wolves and would obviously be disappointed if they logged on to play and found out in that moment that the update and expansion aren’t up and running.

Will House of Wolves bring you back to the game? Have you been playing all this time, or are you taking a break until the expansion gives you a reason to play some new content? I still need to give Destiny a whirl – I keep meeting people who played and enjoyed it; surely all those people can’t be horribly wrong… right?

You will be amazed of the amount of people who still play the game. I go on about 2-3 times a week and there is always enough people for all the different modes. And if you go to the tower it is always full, any time of the day even. Destiny is a lot bigger than what some might think, I have at least 5 “friends” who play every night all night…

I’ve been taking a break, so yeah, I’ll get back into the grind of it all when HoW is available to play.

I think they finally noticed the witcher 3 being released the same day, especially after those reviews and said let’s keep the wolves back for a while longer.

Still play Destiny Daily, Not that excited for HOW, but have leave on the 18th and 19th, so delay would be bad. although, Bungie has shown time and again they don’t care about the community, and only care about how they want the game to be played. Nerfing certain weapons into oblivion, while other weapons thats already OP gets boosted. Taking away any 6 player activity from HOW and leaving us with the stuff that gets boring quickly 3 player stuff.

Launching HOW on the 19th at 8pm our time is not really helping much either. They have started to show that they are a bunch of A-holes and love giving people the middle finger. Unless of course you love PVP, then you are their gods. They should just come out and say they actually wanted to make COD.

Everyone wants different stuff all the time and I’m not sure how Bungie can cater to all of them.

Then they should come out and say. Sorry guys, we are not ready for the game we promised you. Our team is lacking.

Instead of going and trying to keep everything in the dark. Instead of giving reasons for having only 3 player activities, they just say here is it. Eat it. F U all.

Bungie has sunken down from a company who put games first to a company only caring about money.

I do honestly not expect much from the HOW, and think they screwed a large portion of their player base.

The day they admit to it is the day EA says “hahaha you guys are suckers for buying the same sports game every year”, Activision says “Here’s another COD, Team DM or GTFO” and Ubisoft says “It’s gonna be broken on day one, please wait a month before buying”

True, sad part is the developers who are honest, are the ones out of business.

I am on the opposite side to this than you it would seem. I haven’t played the raids at all, I can’t seem to get 5 other good players together to give that a go. I am more than happy that they added the 2 new end game formats. That caters to people like me a bit more. I am overly exited to play HoW, I think that both the new modes will be a lot of fun. I am happy that they finally will be rewarding us idiots who like the PvP, so far you were lucky if you got anything good from playing that.

You do know that neither Trials of Osiris or POE above lvl30 are Match made, and need a pre-made fireteam?

Also, on planet destiny, there is a lfg forum, and I can promise you, using it you will get raid invites in a couple of minutes.

There are a lot of teams who take people through the raids. It all depends on how you act while raiding with them, and if you click.

If I take my raid team, I did not know any of them before Destiny. I was doing a patrol playing by myself, got a random invite to help somebody, showed him some ghosts, and boom, suddenly started getting invites to raids. Been playing with them ever since.

It really wasn’t that hard. One person we picked up in a ROC Strike, person was willing to help, revive people etc. You really just need to show you are a team player. I don’t understand why people are finding it so hard. There are so many ways to get a raid team. Only thing that does not work is playing PVP.

And even in PVP, you can see who are the people who are team players and who aren’t (picking up heavy ammo without any allies or enemies nearby)

Before the game even launched, it was announced that you will need a raid team to do raids. having played a raid, I can honestly say that it will not work if you have match making in it. 6 months later, and I know if I jump on tonight, even if all my raid buddies are offline, I will be able to run a raid. Why people complain that they cannot find any raid teams does not make any sense to me, really.

I kinda feel like I want to wait for all the DLC to be released before I start again. Just so that I can skip grinding for hours on end to get to level 34 when the DLC after HOW makes the grinding inconsequential.

I’ve been playing on and off since launch, breaking to play other games like Bloodborne and next week Witcher etc. While it’s certainly not one of the best games out there, it’s still a solid game imo, both the single player and PVP.
House of Wolves looks like it will add a lot of content, but time will tell if it’s enough…

I just started playing Destiny. It’s not terrible but I find that I get bored with it fairly quickly so only have short play sessions of about an hour or 2 at a time. It’s wierd. Boredom sets in quickly every session but I get exited for the next play session… Witchcraft I tell you.

If you play with a friend it’s really fun. The game was unfortunately not made to play alone. I hate playing with people I don’t actually know, so the raids are lost on me. But me and my brother played the “story” together and it’s a blast. Still hard to do strikes with a 2 man fireteam but lots of fun.

Ja my boet is getting it soon for that very reason. It is a rather joyless experience going at it alone. Im just surprised at how boring yet addictive it is for me.

Very true, when I play alone I cannot get myself to play for more than an hour. Then I quit and after a few minutes I want to go back and play again.

Been playing a lot of crucible the last couple of weeks, but that really is a waste of time as you never get anything worth a damn for playing. Better to just do patrols over and over.

I don’t like the crucible side of it much. Also found doing patrols is the way to go. Atleast I have the “story” mode to wade through for now.

I am still playing, not daily but weekly. I tend to get angry playing Fifa, and then I turn to Destiny to shoot people in the face… It makes me feel better. Everyone moaning there is no new raid can go suck it! I think the two new end game ideas are a lot better, and if you are looking for me that is where I will be. Destiny is way over hyped in some peoples minds, they need to just understand that what was promised nearly a decade ago is not possible yet…
