Deus Ex Mankind Divided Pc issues and fixes

It wouldn’t be a PC launch without a handful of problems and a bunch of angry customers, right? Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launched yesterday, and sadly fall right into the bracket of cross-platform releases that just aren’t playing nice with everyone. My personal experience has been pretty decent so far, but places like Steam, Reddit and the game’s forums are inundated with issues – some of which have fixes already.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided suffers from a host of stability issues, most of which will likely be ironed out in the game’s first patch. Some, however, are users related, and it’s probably a good idea to do the regular driver updates if you’re having issues. Of course drivers aren’t the be all and end all, so if you’re still running into problems the following tweaks might smooth out your experience:

  • Turn off MSAA
  • Turn off Contact Hardening Shadows
  • Keep Volumetric Lighting to on or off
  • If you have a 4GB GPU, use settings up to High
  • Use 1080p resolution
  • Enable Exclusive Fullscreen

Some players are also reporting crashes at certain stages, most notably the Train Station sequence that takes place after the game’s prologue. There isn’t a firm fix yet (although Eidos is working on one), but these are a few workarounds that got things working for some players:

  • Lower the graphic settings
  • Deselect DLC content from the game’s properties in the library
  • Run the game in windowed mode
  • Turn off subtitles

There are some more subtle issues too, like the mouse axis settings not properly displaying what is currently in-use. Eidos suggests just ignoring these for the time being, while he team works on the aforementioned bugs and other niggling cases of mouse acceleration being completely off and more control issues.

Right now it doesn’t seem like anything too detrimental (unless you can’t get past that Train Station), so you should be bashing heads and hacking computers in no time. Let us know below if you’re enjoying Deus Ex: Mankind Divided so far, as we work on our own review for publishing soon.

If you flip a table twice does it not land the right side up?

Along with: “Turns out the preoder [sic] and DLC are one time use only”

Rather disappointing. Makes me pleased I didn’t cave & preorder, or buy it last night when I was eyeing it again.

A lot of reviews complain about the micro transactions and the pc performance issues. Now I’m not one to talk about pc performance. I have a GTX660 and I’m playing this on low graphics settings and it so far works fine for me. I’m not so phased about pwetty pictures … and the wallet says no. Obviously those with high end pcs expect good performance on high settings and the game must not crash or be broken, fair enough. Micro transactions I also do disagree with, but if people have in the past been dumb and willing to purchase these in other games, do you blame them for putting it in? Money talks and if there is easy money to be had (even if it is done somewhat unethically) you can be sure it will be done. In our capitalist world, there is no such thing as “ethics” when it comes to getting people to fork out their hard earned cash. Just look at our banks, cellular providers, insurers, supermarket chains etc as prime examples.

I’m kinda surprised by the amount of people complaining about performance issues, Square games are usually top-notch ports & have been rock solid for me over the years. Granted I don’t really play them at release, but I finished Rise of the Tomb Raider a week ago & it was flawless – not a single glitch anywhere.

I also had no issues with Rise of the Tomb Raider and I played that pretty soon after release. So far Deus Ex is working for me but I think it is mostly people with high end pcs that are complaining they can’t run the game on 4k Ultra. The crashing at train station sequence is bad but I’m sure that will be patched soon and it isn’t happening to everyone. Of course though, it seems to have become more acceptable for games to be released broken and then fixed later.

And that damn 2.8GB day-one patch.
Once again letting the guys who legitimately buy games suffer the most. Why even bother with a pre-load then?

Yip, that was a bitch. I wasn’t impressed, but also sadly not very surprised. Large day one patches are the norm these day. Sigh.

It still cheapens the an excellent franchise. So it will get a “not recommended” from me.

Very true, unfortunately there are quite a few new gamers (and perhaps old with new bad habits) that make this practice simply too profitable. I feel sorry for the people who put a lot of time and effort making this game only for its name to be ruined by shady business practices and not necessarily by the actual game itself.

The game itself is excellent. Great fun and well made. I’ve had no problems. But I won’t support this kind of business.

Waiting for GOTY edition or Steam sales. Not because I do not want this game, but rather that my backlog is so full I haven’t even started Witcher 3 yet!

I didn’t run into any crashes or lag or graphical problems, and I’ve got a pretty old pc. Running it on high too.
The only problem is the microtransactions.
