Deus Ex Mankind Divided Season Pass detailed 2

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is out tomorrow, and so far it’s received some pretty great review scores. Critics seems to agree that Adam Jensen’s latest adventure is a little more of the same, but that the pool its drawing inspiration from was pretty stellar to start with. Human Revolution was a remarkable game for many reasons, but most notably also for its incredible DLC, The Missing Link. Mankind Divided’s Season Pass then seems a little underwhelming.

Square Enix and Eidos Montreal have yet to detail the contents of the pass themselves, but UK retailer GAME seems to have the preliminary details on what you can expect over the next few months. Square Enix plans to make the DLC release seasonal, adding small bits of content to the RPG to keep it alive in the weeks to come. Given that some critics where caught off guard by how slightly short the main game is, this DLC doesn’t seem to be extended it too much.

•Two new story missions: “System Rift” and “A Criminal Past”
•The “Assault” and “Tactical” packs, which include various weapons and items
• 4 Praxis Kits
• 5000 Credits
• 5 “Booster Packs” and 20 “Chipsets” for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Breach

Two story missions don’t sound like they’re going to pad your game time meaningfully, at least not in the same way that Missing Link added a whole new area, new abilities and around 10 hours of additional gameplay. You’ll also snag a few extra perks in the form of in-game credits, weapons and items (as is standard with DLC packs), as well as some additional content exclusive to Mankind Divided’s more ‘out there” first-person shooter focused mode, Breach.

It’s a brief overview of what’s included that Eidos Montreal could easily flesh out into something more substantial over time, which would certainly make the $30 price tag a little more welcoming. Still if you end up falling in love with Mankind Divided a few little extras generously sprinkled on top might just be what you’re looking for. But if you’re like me and hoping for something akin to Missing Link, it seems that we’re stuck hoping for now.

For $30 I’d need at least 9 quintillion stories.

I hope they do. And learn from this. The bastards.

Now, ME3, From Ashes, was an awesome pre-order item, that affected the entire game. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A PREORDER BONUS. So, there is the other side of the coin.

So, I was weak and I just bought the game. DID not buy the full Season Pass edition, R400 more? Are they kidding? Especially as at time of order they were vague on what it gets extra.

treating this like DA:I and Witcher 3, even if I rebuy the full game in a GOTY edition just to get all DLC later on, so be it.

By the way, the main game of DA:I is not helped by the DLC content. I am so overpowered (I breezed through alll dragons, for example) now, with all the kit and EXP from the Deep Roads and nearly finished Jaws of Hakkon (a bit meh). Point is, Deus EX: HR expansion pack was cool for me, a lot of games fall into the trap of making the DLC content fit into the main game, but making it much harder, with much cooler booty as reward. This can sometimes destabilise the main game, especially if, like me, you tend to play the main story up to a low point and then concentrate on DLC

I always try to finish all the side quests and optional missions I can before proceeding further with the main quest. I have a tendency to lose interest in games as soon as I’ve finished the main story. But then yes, I end up a bit OP at times.

Me too, always, for the same reason. Not because I am not a competition-ist, but because I do not want to revisit that while I am there now.

That attitude served me very well in playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time, did not advance story until EVERY single side mission was fully completed. I think, in that way, I got the best possible play-though (no internet help) of the game, on my first attempt.

Although, the sheer size of that game, I had to take breaks from playing from time to time, for like a week or two. But yes, before I hit Sweden / Norway, the mainland was pretty much done for.

Games like Mass Effect, Witcher etc honestly deserve more than 1 play through to fully enjoy the experience of the game.

As a total aside: first time I played Neverwinter Nights 2, I played a monk. I had Psionics handbook for AD&D 2nd edition, so liked the class.

At the end of the game, my character was so OP, the others would fall in fights, but I did not need them. I hardly got hit, when I did, massive damage resistance helped AND monk self heal powers. Final fight, was so easy, I killed that demon without the rest of the party.

2nd play. Um. Played as Mage. Wow. Guess the Monk was just OP and it was not my skill!

I did something similar in Baldur’s Gate 2 on a later play through. Had The Darkest Day mod installed, and by the time I’d finished that and gotten to the Irenicus boss fight, my fighter character was so OP she took him out all by herself without losing a single HP.

I loved NWN2. I remember that chaotic neutral mage, made her so powerful with purely offensive spells, and then she switched side. I made my entire party target her before she could wipe me out 😀

I KNOW. It was so difficult to keep Qara (?) on your side, cause, effectively, she was a spoiled bitch and it is difficult to agree with her. AND she is massively powerful against you in the final fight, yes. (and in the fights with you against enemies of course. We made here so offensive, cause she was so effective at it. Sorcerer, at high levels can cast SO MANY spells compared to mage)

I loved BG2, with Throne of Baal. Playing such a powerful character is unusual in the AD&D worlds. AND that one fight where many people died: you are like level 25 and they send in level 3 to 8 kobolds on this bridge (no easy running and moving) AND they kill you, till you better your tactics. Just to show, numbers still counted. Clever game, showing you how powerful you were, but could still bring you to ground

I had a moment like that yesterday when playing Pony Island, which is a puzzle game. One of the last “bosses” tries its best to mess with you, and succeeds far too easily.

Steam still has quite a few games like that, you just have to dig a little sometimes to find them. Some golden titles that really gets you back to those experiences you had when you were younger and others that just mess with your head 🙂

Hmm, perhaps a future FFD: Which games DLC added the most value to the game, i.e. fit into the game as an expansion, rather than giving the player items that overpower the original game completely. Mass Effect 2 and 3 are not allowed, as they, for me, are the examples the rest need to look up to, in terms of DLC delivery after release.

Completely, without question, for me too. I loved Citadel, it was big, it was worth it (4 gig download on Xbox 360, vs less than 1 gig for the others).

But ME2 Shadow Broker is the best for me, as it integrated so fully into the whole game, it raised the entire game up, with little additions here and there. I liked that.

Citadel also plays on our feels, last DLC, Goodbye and all that. And it worked! That party…. Wow. The Arena fights, I LOVED them.

Shadow Broker was great. I haven’t played a single piece of ME3 DLC, it was released after I’d finished the game & I had no wish to return to it, and especially not be ripped off by buying it with bioware points.

I got them all, cheap cheap, from Xbox Live on sale a while after release and the replayed the game, from ME1. Amazing, ME1 completed in like 25 hours, ALL quests done. First time I played it, well, that was at least 100 hours.

It is worth it, the ME3 DLC. BUT, as the rule is, buy on special.

In Skyrim’s case you could either buy all the DLC separately on Steam, or “upgrade” to the legendary edition. It cost me nearly a third to upgrade than what it would’ve cost me to just get the DLC.

I played a Fighter / Mage, just because you can. And in AD&D it is do difficult to multi-class like that. It was awesome. Sword in one hand, magic in other. Sometimes, magic in both, from a distance. I role-played that thing, dammit.
