Diablo III’s economy is broken

Remember how Diablo III’s online requirement wasn’t DRM, but was rather instituted because the game had a persistent, global economy? Well that economy is now well and truly poked.

Apparently a new exploit has been found that allows users to duplicate their gold using the game’s Real Money Auction House. all it takes is cancelling an auction right at the moment of transaction; instant profit.

If any of you still happen to be playing Diablo III, you may notice that the RMAH is now offline.

After the release of Patch 1.0.8 this morning, we made the decision to take the gold and real-money Auction Houses offline to investigate a bug that certain players were exploiting to dupe gold. Our team is working hard to fix any outstanding issues and take appropriate actions with the accounts involved. The Auction House services will be restored as soon as the situation is resolved. As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and fun gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we’ll continue to monitor activity on Battle.net and take action as needed.

If you’ve utilised the bug to make yourself some extra virtual currency, be warned that your illicit gains will more than likely be rolled back – and you could be on the receiving end of a ban. Man, that console version is looking better and better.

Tell us again, Blizzard, how the always-on requirement would prevent cheating?

Their TOS and EULA state that you may not exploit known or unknown bugs for any form of gain within the game. So while I still think Blizzard are a bunch of twits who used the RMAH as an excuse for always on, one has to understand that this kind of exploit can get you very real money payouts and that’s theft.

Hmm, that is true, I forgot that you can get real money out of the exploit. But hot damn they need to more careful, this is real money we talking about

Yeah, another reason I call bull on their claim that always online was for the safety of the RMAH. There is no safety. This is what, the 2nd or 3rd time that someone has exploited the RMAH?

“If any of you still happen to be playing Diablo III” – summed it up right there. Oh, it’s broken/offline? Don’t care. I haven’t played it in close to a year and I don’t ever see myself going back.

Yeah… I got a copy of it… finished it on the first 2 difficulty settings… uninstalled it and haven’t looked back.

Seriously, who can sit through the EXACT same game more than twice, with the same character, and still want to play more??? Damn D3 was boring!!!

One filled with LAZY PRODUCERS where the internet is the new reliant for LAZY shit.

It all started for me after Fable 2 and the rushed out piece of shit while the DLC got more attention than the chopped ending let alone the patch to prevent that game breaking bug.

2008, that’s when it all started going to shit.

Yes its against the EULA in every game. Otherwise everyone can go over the bugs that is reported and exploit them without any repacussions.

The only thing the Diablo 3 special edition is good for is installing Diablo 2.
