Did you think Origin was going away? Never…

There isn’t much that gamers agree on but one of the overriding trends at the moment is to absolutely despise EA’s new delivery service, Origin.

Ask any Battlefield 3 PC player what the worst part of the experience is and they’ll undoubtedly say Origin so it was with a little bit of hope and a whole lot of gumption that we asked the regional EA rep whether or not Origin would be discontinued in the near future.

He laughed in our faces… true we deserved that but still that did give us some indication as to the important of Origin in the overall EA strategy and now that importance is beginning to show with EA announcing that they have signed up 11 new publishers to their horrible digital service.

The new publishers are

  • Robot Entertainment
  • CD Projekt RED
  • Freebird Games
  • Recoil Games
  • Autumn Games
  • 1C Company
  • inXile Entertainment
  • Paradox Interactive
  • Core Learning
  • N3V Games

Granted we’re not talking massive publishers here but you’ll recognise some of those names and all it means is that Origin really is here to stay.

But let’s not be overly harsh, while Origin is a steaming pile of faeces right now EA really does have the knowledge and financial backing to sort it out and the only people who should really be worried about this is Valve who’s Steam service is the obvious direct competitor to the mammoth EA Battle Cruiser that is incoming.
