Dishonored 2 E3 fact sheet paints a pretty ID Tech 5 picture

dishonored in yo face

I can’t see Dishonored not getting a sequel. The game was well received, Bethesda saw the chance to craft a new money-making universe and there’s a bunch of disappointed Thief gamers right now who would embrace it with open arms. Is it coming? Well here’s some more evidence to lend credence to the first rumour.

VG247 got sent the following image, which they claim is a press fact sheet for the game when it debuts at E3 this year. According to the image, Dishonored 2: Darkness of Tyvia has:

  • Id Tech 5 visuals
  • A new main character
  • New powers
  • A new location in the form of Tyvia
  • Versus multiplayer
  • Doom Beta access

Dishonored 2

It looks pretty legit so far, although that 2016 release date is going to be one hell of a wait for fans. According to the VG247 source, the spelling mistake spotted in the Wolfenstein area of the document is due to this one being an early draft, with a corrected version available soon.

At one time, the website listed on the document would take people to a Dishonored page, but it has since been removed from online existence. Bethesda has yet to comment on all these Dishonored 2 rumours. ID Tech 5 has me intrigued however, so expect this to be a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title when it launches next to the PC platform.

The first Dishonored had a massive amount of style to go with its grand ideas, and I’d love to see that visual flare revived for the sequel. And more Doom beta access? Sounds legit enough to me.

  1. The Doom Beta Access thing is not as big a draw for me as it once was (15 odd years ago).

Edit. Now if they said something like Fallout Beta access then I would purchase faster than you can say “War … War never changes.”

I still need to finish the first. There was something missing in it I felt, not sure what it was, but it didn’t pull me back.

I very much agree with this statement. There was something I felt was missing as well, which meant I never returned to the game after I finished it the first (and only) time.

I just can’t put my finger on it.

Well I only finish very very good games more than once.

Yeah that’s true for me as well. I guess I just don’t think I would have gotten much out of it doing it a second time. Like there wouldn’t be that much more to experience.

I remember replaying Thief over and over and over again back in the day though. Still haven’t tried the new one. And a little sad at reviews thus far..

Thief was cool because you could try things loads of different ways. Dishonored is the same but different, I just got the game about a week ago, and I have having an awesome time, but I don’t see myself playing the entire game again, maybe a few missions at the most. Games like Farcry 3 on the other hand would gladly play all over.

So much for them saying using cryengine 3 for next game.

I don’t mind it coming out in 2016 so long as it’s a polished well designed and, above all, an enjoyable game.

Playing Dishonored now, not sure what all the fuss is? It’s not a bad game but the problem is Corvo’s character or lack thereof. There is no emotional tie to him – he simply doesn’t exist as a living person. Which is strange because the other characters are well done and the writing is good, but Corvo is a nothing character. They may done it intentionally – to make him seem more like a ghost, but really there is no emotional response to him at all. He really is just a few pixels.

I think they did it deliberately so you can decide what he’s like based on the way you choose to play the game.

Yeah I’m sure they had their reasons. The problem is that the game is just sterile, well crafted but Corvo has to be the most boring character ever written into a game. It’s not a question of him being voiced though. It’s the writing that’s the problem.

Agreed, I like it when the main character can speak. Corvo is so silent and faceless.

Bethesda must have put a lot of resources into id Tech 5 and developed a ton of tools for it. With the new games I wonder if the new Fallout will use it too. It’s an amazing engine technically. But its gotten a bit behind in the rendering department compared to UE4.
