Dishonored 2 wants you to be imaginatively murderous

Dishonored2

They’ve been around for a few decades, but games are still largely about killing things. Hyper violent, gruesome and grotesque, most games are about ending the lives of others. As games and the people that play them mature, we’ll see games more games that deviate from that – like the excellent Firewatch, or Gone Home.

But still, killing things is fun! As long as there’s a healthy mental separation between fantasy and reality, I see no reason not to kill things in video games. I’m growing increasingly excited for Dishonored 2. I rather liked sneaking about the city of Dunwall in the first one, unleashing plagues of rats and stabbing everything that moves. And I’m looking very forward to doing the same in the sequel. Especially with these delicious new powers, all beautifully showcased in this new trailer. Dishonored 2 wants you to be a murderous psychopath, but it wants you to do that with style.

From the gritty streets of Dunwall to the shimmering opulence of Karnaca, every level in Dishonored 2 is a puzzle waiting for you to solve. Watch as both Emily Kaldwin and Corvo Attano showcase a few of the seemingly limitless creative combinations of their supernatural abilities, weapons and gadgets to dispatch their enemies. If you plan on facing your foes head-on, you may find some inspiration here.

Reprise your role as a supernatural assassin in Dishonored 2. Play your way in a world where mysticism and industry collide. Will you choose to take on the role of Empress Emily Kaldwin or the royal protector, Corvo Attano? Will you make your way through the game unseen, make full use of its brutal combat system, or use a blend of both? How will you combine your character’s unique set of powers, weapons and gadgets to eliminate your enemies? The story responds to your choices, leading to intriguing outcomes, as you play through each of the game’s hand-crafted missions.

Who will you be playing as the first time you play Dishonored 2?

For some reason, when I think about getting my grubby paws on this game and starting it up for the first time, I have the Knight Rider theme music playing.

I was thinking of going that way too, but I realised I probably won’t replay it.

I think I’ll just kill the crap out of everything with Corvo for the first run. Then do the same with Emily depending on how different her skillset is. Eventually I’ll get to a stealth run with either. But I’ll have to wait for a Steam sale because DAYUM.
