How’s this for a weird story for the day. Certain people like to install games on their Xbox 360 as it gives them a minute performance boost and apparently saves the DVD drive… however in the case of Doom 3 BFG it gives you no performance boost at all and actually gimps the game.
As you can see from the image above, once you have installed the game to your hard drive you can no longer play Doom or Doom 2 which are both bundled free of charge on the Doom 3 BFG disc.
When Shacknews reached out to Bethesda for a comment all they received was
“we recommend not installing the game" as it will prevent the launch of both Doom and Doom 2. Additionally, "there is no performance advantage to installing the game to your hard drive."
It’s a truly bizarre move from Bethesda and I can only imagine they ran into some weird technical glitch that caused this to happen.
So there you have it, if you do buy Doom 3 BFG just make sure you don’t install it
