Do you use skins? You should…

I posted an article a good couple of months ago about Myskins.co.za which is a local website that sells skins (covers) for gaming consoles, controllers and laptops.

Well after that article they were kind enough to send me a voucher for a skin for me to try out. Now honestly I have never been a fan of skins or anything like that so I just ordered the controller skin pack so that I could see how they turn out.

Well it is now 5 months later and I can honestly say my view has changed considerably… Placing the order was really easy, the skin arrived on time and was exactly what was ordered.

The wife put it on the controller with very little effort and it looked cool. I was still apprehensive about the whole idea but I thought I would give it a shot and see how it felt…

I don’t know what it is but I am now absolutely addicted to my one controller with my skin on it. If friends or family want to play then I always hand them one of the spare controllers, they are not allowed to use mine…

It really is a weird experience that I cannot completely explain, but one that I really do recommend.

Myskins.co.za do skins for laptops, PDA’s, cellphones, all the consoles and now even a DSTV decoder… which is probably the absolutely last thing I would ever skin…

They also offer a gift voucher service so if you have no idea what to buy a gamer for this Christmas, this is something nice and original….

MySkins South Africa – It’s time to get Personal!

This has been a public service announcement from Lazygamer.co.za 😉

I’d kill to skin my PVR in plain black. That big silver monolith is uuuugly. It’s the only silver goodie in my setup and it sticks out like a sore thumb. I pray Multichoice dont alter the look of the forthcoming HD decoder from Pace

I’ve mailed Myskins several times about the PVR, but they’ve never responded. Perhaps you could use your journalistic sway to illicit a response from the bottomless black whole that is their contact email addy !

Hi there. Even from MySkins here.

We certainly got the PVR requests on our voting-box but have been unable to source one. We usually respond to the voting booth suggestions as soon as the device is online.

When we make Skins for new devices, we need the device physically for one working day and the template is done.

If you know someone in the Kyalami/Woodmead/Morningside area with a PVR, or you are willing to live without yours for a day (9 to 5), please contact me and we can organize the template asap! I’ll even give you 10% off your Skin 🙂

    Please let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Xennox,

Did you email or use the voting booth / shout box?
Emails always get answered, but if we missed yours I’ll check it out.

To include you in the loop, what happends is that all voting booth suggestions ends up in a big list. Based on the number of votes for a certain device (and whether we can get a hold of the device, which is not always easy with some of the manufacturers…), we start making the templates. As soon as the template is finished and online, an email is sent to all the people that asked for that device to notify them.

    Which device did you request?

I just remembered that our accountant recently got a PVR. I gave her a call and she will be bringing it in on Monday.

I’ll send you an email when the PVR is online!

The Zune has become a white whale for us. We have been hasseling Microsoft for so long trying to get a hold of it. Finally we got in touch with a store that was willing to lend it to us, but the day we were picking it up, they sold their last unit. Now they say they have to wait another 2 weeks for stock… during xmas?! anyway..

Same as the PVR. We rely on support from the community. If you have a Zune, live in Joburg, and are willing to leave it to us for a short while, we will ensure the template gets made pronto!

If it’s as easy as the skin I received with Halo 3 Ltd edition then I would recommend it to anyone… it was more like a film than vinyl.
Think be changing my console to black soon 🙂

You guys all ask your wives to put your skins on your controllers – is it at all possible to put a skin on your wife? Maybe one that looks like Jessica Alba ?
