Free stuff

You know how we discussed if Steam Sales and stuff might not be as awesome for developers and players? Well, who cares? There are some awesome games in this Humble Weekly Sale, as well as two great games for free this weekend on Steam (you can keep them forever at a huge discount, too).

Let’s start with the fantastic Humble Weekly Sale. Coming to you from Bohemia Interactive, it’s all about the Arma. For $6 (or more) you get: Arma II, Take On Helicopters, UFO: Afterlight, Alpha Prime, ARMA: Gold Edition, ARMA Tactics, Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead and… ARMA II: DayZ Mod. That’s right – you can finally see what all the fuss is about with DayZ.

Meanwhile, over on Steam, Company of Heroes 2 and Saints Row IV are free for the weekend. That’s right – cancel plans to placate your in-laws, throw your kids at a babysitter and settle in for some free gaming. If you call in love with either game (which is probably the point of the free weekend), they are both on special. That’s right, Saints Row IV is 50% off, coming in at $20 while Company of Heroes 2 is a whopping 66% off. That means you can carry on playing after the free weekend ends for the low low price of $13.59. Not too shabby.

I honestly think I will keep my weekend open so that I can just play games again. I miss my holiday gaming time already – need to sink some time back into Mass Effect, and I’m totally going to buy the Humble Bundle… and give Company of Heroes 2 a whirl. Oh, and I’m jamming some L4D2 this evening if anyone feels like joining in before I hurl.

    ZOE!! I love you <3 I was really on the fence, since I've been enjoying the standalone DayZ. 60 bucks for the mod? Yes please!

    “need to sink some time back into Mass Effect” Replaying or only now just finishing the series? Also thanks for the nostalgia. Think I might boot up ME1 again, best of the 3. ;_;

    I would join for L4D2, seeing as i just installed it again, but we have a Pathfinder campaign going, and it is ridiculously fun to be playing some tabletop again.

    I’d give them a try but by the time either is finished downloading the weekend will be over.
